It’s been on my mind all day

Something has been on my mind. Bothering me. Always there in the back of my mind lately. I’ve spoken to a colleague about it, thought about asking a friend but decided to just get it out, to just ask on here. Maybe someone can help, and put me out of my confusion.

George from Rainbow. Was it a boy or a girl?

"Which one was George? Was he the pink one?"

The pink hippo. With beautiful long lashes. Called George. With an ambiguous voice.

I don't remember the lashes, I always thought he was male because of his voice.

But given the time shouldn’t George have been a blue hippo then?

Carlisle usually

Weirdly, I spent a couple of the early hours of this morning discussing George, after Bungle came up in the discussion of why did Rupert have such striking pants when almost all other representations of bears in clothing have no pants at all.

I thought of George as male presenting when I was young.

Zippy is a creature of indeterminate species, with great big unblinking eyes, no nose and a zip for a mouth.

To be fair you started it.

I feel like the foundations of my youth are unravelling before my eyes. I better not start deconstructing The Magic Roundabout or I may have a psychological meltdown.

There’s your answer. I doubt the puppet had an undercarriage.

Neither did big bungle as he ran about in the zip apart from wearing pyjamas at bedtime. Kinky big weirdo that he was.

I always thought of George as a boy, probably because of the name. But I was too young to consider it being short for Georgina and hadn't read any Famous Five at that point.

About 3 feet away from the fence

George is definitely supposed to be a camp male.

This reminded me of the "adult" Rainbow sketch they did. I'm sure it's on YouTube.

Or 1970s ITV didn’t allow puppets with hanging baws.

Even though he was obviously a hippo, George refused to identify as such.

I guess that he was hippocritical.
