How do you feel about Gary Lineker leaving and who would you want as a replacement?

The Continental

Not fussed, times have to change. No different than when Des stopped and Gary took over.

Natural progression suggests that it’ll be Mark ‘Chappers’ Chapman.

Not watched it for years when you can screen almost any game now or the highlights.

BRIDPORT

I think the last time I watched it Jimmy (the chin) Hill was doing it, so not really bothered.

Maybe the BBC could use the opportunity to realign the remuneration package to something realistic.

MOTD is a flagship for the BBC and despite what any of you think Gary Lineker is a top presenter. If the BBC want top presenters for any of their programmes they need to pay accordingly.

Mark Chapman is very knowledgeable about a lot of sports and would be a great replacement. I don't blame him for not wanting a job share.

I feel neutral about Gary Lineker leaving things change

We both like him and have followed his career from the start.

He seems well liked and respected among his colleagues too

He was World of Sport on ITV. Now if you mean Jimmy Hill and that wonderful chin...

But then for Saturday lunchtime footie hosts, Saint and Greavsie were the best

I know if a replacement has been confirmed but it's probably between Mark Chapman and Alex Scott.

Thankfully Jermaine Jenas isn't at the BBC and not in consideration for it.

"…….but it's probably between Mark Chapman and Alex Scott."

Would be worth Alex Scott getting it just to see Joey Barton’s social media output.

Not a fan of Lineker, haven’t watched the program for about 8 years. I think it’s time for a change and has been for a long time.

I think it would be brilliant if Gareth Southgate got his job after Lineker spent so much time slagging him off. But can’t see that happening

I respect Lineker not only for his achievements in football but for also speaking his mind and not being controlled like a puppet

I want her to get the job now purely for the meltdown

He's always been a bit mid really.

Carragher

Roy Keane isn't really a host but he's definitely a good expert guest.

Not many could question his achievements as a player. Personally I think strikers get a disproportionate about of attention for a team game. Having both your strikers score a hat trick would count for nothing if the goalkeeper let in the 7 shots on target the opposition had.

Will be interesting to see if whoever gets the job does so because they are considered the best person to take over or because they fit a woke narrative. Unfortunately for the Beeb they will struggle to find a disabled, black, transgender lesbian who also happens to know a lot about football and able to present a tv show
