When it comes to larger women in lingerie - what do you think looks good? Are there any styles you don't particularly like or do you not care in the heat of the moment?

And those who wear said lingerie - what designs make you feel confident/sexy? Where do you get yours from? See, I love fishnet tights and I'm toying with the idea of fishnet stockings but worried they'll look a bit... whale caught in nets. :D

I find most items of lingerie appealing as long as they are not garish or - dare I say it- slutty. I am a man of simplicity and much prefer understated and muted styles and colours, with a modernistic twist as opposed to vintage patterns.

A provocative set of Bra and Knickers will win me over more than than basque and suspenders.

Oh, and Hold Ups....these leave me weak at the knees. Bring a defibrillator, just in case!

I wear lingerie not because it makes me feel confident, but because I like the feel of the fabric on my skin.

For confidence I'd rather be naked - I always have a sneaking suspicion that in lingerie I must resemble the punchline of some ghastly joke. Hattie Jacques trying to appear alluring to Kenneth Williams in Carry On Doctor, where we all laugh at the absurdity of it.

When you say bodysuit you mean the short things yes? Not a bodystocking.

Bodystockings tend to be raved about but for one, I don't have the patience to put one on/I'd get itchy and two... yeah. Don't think it'll work. Bodysuits might be a shout, will look in to them, thanks!

Outfit wise I like alsorts but it definitely is hard finding what looks right.

Oh OP! This was very nearly a voicenote to you later as I’ve been having a clear out.

I try to avoid anything with thin/spaghetti straps as I look and feel like a joint of pork wrapped in twine. It’s not sexy, I don’t feel sexy, if I don’t feel sexy we’re not having sex. There’s nothing wrong with my body or the style, the issue for me is the style on my body.

I am confident enough to not settle for feeling insecure so rather than wearing something and feeling self conscious, I’d rather wear something that works for me.

I tend to stick to full, well fitting cup designs (bodysuits, bras, baby dolls) as I have large boobs and don’t like the look of them spilling out. I feel better wearing something that fits well.

I also prefer something to be tighter on my waist to cinch me in. I don’t have the most hourly hourglass in the world so I’ll take the help where I can

You can say slutty. I get that. We all have different tastes and some lingerie is deliberately slutty. That's not insulting or anything.

I have quite muted colours, well dark tones, simple sets but lingerie that makes me feel... 🔥 (hot in a sexy way, in case your Boomer mind doesn't translate it) would be good. You know, upgraded sets from the day to day stuff.

You have quite a classic taste, I like that.

I've just moved most of my lingerie pics into my friends gallery but my approach so far has been pretty much buy whatever (and I've usually gone fairly cheap in this first stage) try them all on and take pictures, see how I feel in them. I've tried body suits, bodystockings, fish nets, mock garters, floaty things, string pieces, different colours, different fabrics. and once I've spotted trends that I think make me look sexy, I've ordered similar sets in something a little nicer/pricier.

I have found I quite like dark colours - dark blue, forest green, purple. I like halter necks designs on top, florals, cut out spaces around my hips and stomach that show off skin but cover too. Hate (loathe really) the high cut design of the knicker part. Spaghetti straps seem to accentuate my winder shoulders and makes me feel self conscious of my arms but I also can't wear sleeves because I feel suffocated. Love a good design or pattern.

Thank you. I can’t remember the names of the styles. I just buy what I think looks nice and hope it looks ok on. I do have plenty of bras etc here that just look terrible so don’t wear them.

My favourite dress at the moment is a black body con one with lace up the sides and chest area. If I was slimmer I’d wear it into town on a night out but I’m sure I’d get classed as mutton dressed as lamb 🤣🤣

So I keep that for the bedroom paired with stockings.

If you can recommend somewhere good for fishnets stockings/hold ups etc that would be good.

I struggle with sizes.

I’m short legged with chunky thighs so find medium is often to tight but large to small.

It’s very difficult to find stuff that fits correctly, especially when your boobies are as big as my wife’s. But when you do find stuff that flatters the gorgeous curves all ladies have it looks amazing.

Try ASOS for baby dolls. They don’t always have them but I’ve got a couple off there that have lasted me years!

I love that people speak so much about body confidence but it’s starting to feel a bit forced.

I think understanding our bodies and what we like to show off/the bits we’d rather not show off does more for our confidence. We can’t always choose to love our bodies but we can choose what to wear that makes us feel good about ourselves

Honestly have a look on shein I have just received some lovely stuff from there. So many different styles on there so you can be as covered up or as risqué as you desire and it's dirt cheap too.

I also thought I would look like a whale trapped in a net but I threw caution to the wind and bought some body stockings from Ebay off a seller called princess lace boutique. Excellent quality lovely material and washes well.

I think wearing lingerie is 50% quality of the product and 50% bravery in carrying it off!

I own fishnet stockings and as my picture I have a body stocking. I don't think I look like I'm a ham. What I've found it's the difficulty on getting ones that actually flipping fit. Cause I'm fat and short and stocking nearly come up to my crotch most of the time.

I think I'm most comfortable when I wear things that fit. Which isn't always easy when your plus size.

Yes, if it feels nice that's why I'm wearing it.

Someone mentioned Princess Lace Boutique - they're the only bodystockings I will wear because they are beautifully soft and just feel lovely.

Snag are lovely once washed a couple of times but I can't wear them straight out of the pack. They do some great fishnet stockings - quite small fishnet rather than great big ones where I feel trussed like a joint of pork. Bonus that they work for my long fat legs rather than ending up as knee-highs like most plus size stockings do.

Otherwise I wander round shops fondling underwear until I find something that feels nice. I have some nice silk bits from Ann Summers and velvet devore from M&S.

My underwear is touching my most sensitive skin, so should be nicer fabric than my clothes!

In terms of style I like fussiness - ribbons and ruffles and bows and lace. Stuff that makes it's presence felt while I'm wearing it. Stockings and suspenders rather than hold-ups. Tie-side knickers with long ribbon ties rather than thongs. It suits my purpose.

However, I am a huge fan of confidence

If, by wearing lingerie that they like and feel good in, someone gains next level confidence, then I'm all for it

As someone who had the great pleasure of assisting with lingerie choices of wonderfully proportioned woman I know it's a minefield.

Larger women may share being larger but they are all different shapes and sizes. What set/brand suits one bigger woman may not suit another. Lingerie is designed to enhance certain features, minimise others and sometimes alter shape. But bigger ladies are all different shapes and sizes. Carrying their weight weight in different proportion and areas. Long legs, short legs, short torsos, long torsos.

So in my opinion/experience it's very hard to tell what will suit you and what won't until you try it on. Granted you'll get a better idea of what works as you go on. And frustratingly sometimes you find something that works and technically it's the right size but turns out not to be right. Maybe it's size 22 sure, but when you put it on its clearly not made for a torso that's so long and just doesn't sit right on your (even though you know a woman the same dress size who looks amazing in it).

And I'm assuming the same is for women of other proportions too. Because women don't just come in small, medium and large, they come in a almost limitless range of differing shapes and sizes in addition to their dress size. Which to all us who love women that range of variety is awesome and makes this place such a beautiful one. But that same variety is a pain in the neck when it comes to finding lingerie. However its awesome when a woman find something she kills it in. So I guess just keep trying different stuff on till you find what works for you.

I'll always buy my size and not try to shoe horn myself into stuff that is too small for me. That's what gives me my "I look good confidence" and not a worry that what I am wearing, might suddenly split....

I naturally gravitate to vintage styles.

Suspenders with thick straps, well fitting stockings, non thong knickers and a good push up bra. With or without a corset

However I also love feeling a little slutty in a nice fishnet body stocking and harness. I still wear a bra and knickers with them. I was self conscious at first because I was rather afraid I’d look a bit like a bag of onions or a joint of rolled pork but apparently not.

There are so many retailers now, it depends on her size. If she's at the smaller end of plus size, Pour Moi, Figleaves Curve, Bluebella.

General, Playful Promises, Tutti Rouge, PrettyLittleThing and Asos. And Savage X Fenty! Tutti Rouge do beautiful sets as well.

I'd really suggest looking at PP first - it's midrange in terms of price point but they do sales frequently.
