I have a double monitor setup in my office where I chill out.

I have variable LED lights and a roof window thing.

In the mornings, I need to increase the brightness of the screens. In the evenings, I need to decrease the brightness. When the lights on, I need to make the monitors the correct brightness so that it doesn't fuck with my eyes. The monitors use DisplayPort, and with this there's a technology called something like DDLC or something. Basically, you can route commands to the monitor through the display port.

So! I'm going to make a USB lux sensor and an app. The app will talk with some API/command line thingy and just automatically change the screen brightness for me...

Atleast in theory.

A great combination! Do you read any particular writers on the subject? Have you read any Arthur Machen?

As always, coffee... I recently bought a gooseneck kettle with temperature control and function to keep it warm so that I have more precision in my pouring while brewing my coffee 🤓🙈

Not exactly geeking out over but I watched the remarkable life of ibelin (again) and cried nearly all the way through it (again) such a sad and poignant story which also gives me happy feels. I've long been a gaming ally and it's nice to see proof of being right coming into the mainstream.

Try LibreOffice Calc. It's much better as it doesn't automatically fuck-up fields containing large numbers when you import a spreadsheet (you can use the same formulas as Excel). Even better, it's completely free for personal use.

I use formulas. I also like (ctrl + ') fixed refs. I'm nothing special as I hate it and it probably hates me. Layout is usually my biggest issues, and grand apathy towards it. Oh and getting sucked into an excel black hole of just another 30 mins..

Also I dont use autosave.. Don't want nasties creeping in.

There is more but its mainly amateur stuff. I hate it.

I've never noticed a problem to be fair ,but your dataset might be quite different or challenging.

Oh, planes! Which is a great turn of events considering the thought of them sent shivers down my spine not so long ago.

I’ve plucked up the courage to book a holiday, so naturally I’m researching everything I can about them. Should I be doing that? Probably not but it’s keeping me entertained!

I use Libre office Calc lots and it's ace. I'd written macros in MS Excel previously and they transferred seamlessly to Libre when I went over to Linux.

Also currently obsessing about off-grid PV.

Yeah, I've watched a few here and there. I've built a number of off-grid PV systems (static and mobile) and I'm just now collecting the kit to build a new 5120W system for my cabin.
