I hate Christmas and the reason is up until the age of 12 they were brilliant family times but the next year my parents had split and that Christmas was spent in the middle of the countryside (that's where we lived) with just my father. No one came to visit and for me it killed it. 47 years on still dread this time of year. Sorry to put a downer on those who like it

I love the build up, the lights, the music, the food and the activities. This year is especially exciting.

However, I find the actual day really tough. It's just me and my boys and I'll forever feel guilty they don't have grandparents, their dad or masses of extended family.

I’m pretty indifferent about crimbo. I hated it as a child and I’ve rarely had anyone special to spend it with, so I never have much to look forward to. I’ll be on my own this year.

But I do quite like the festive atmosphere everywhere - the lights and decorations, people being happy, Christmas music, and I never begrudge people having their Christmasses.

I get 17 days off work which will be nice!

I've hired a catering company over 3 days, a barman, some posh yurts in the garden for those that don't fit in the main house, and a company to decorate inside and out, and the outside lights will be computer-controlled to music. It's going to be an epic Christmas! I bet we all still argue though

This year might be a bit rubbish as I don’t have lots of leave and I’ll be working Christmas Day and New Years Eve, and I don’t have a lot of money but we always celebrate on 24th in honour of the Scandinavian heritage and I always have Boxing Day as a day off to myself and eat all the party food and watch Paddington in my pj’s so still lots to love and enjoy! Yes, it isn't very nice that we open on Boxing day, but if you people didn't come in, we probably wouldn't have to.
