Just thought I'd open up a political correctness thread so all the political correct brigade on here can gather in one place to set up their soap boxes. Feel free to have a good old general rant together about anything that boils your piss.

You're welcome and enjoy. Thank me later

Mr F.

Woke or being politically correct doesn't mean being aware of social injustices like some people in here like to believe. It actually means wanting to control what others say to suit ones narrative and thinking and its proven even down to films and tv shows you lot watch. I'm fed up of this "political correctness". I'm fed up of it all, blacks, gays, trans, equality, autism, and all the pandering/mollycoddling that comes with it.

The likes of universities are amongst the worst. "We need to know your demographic so that we can enforce equality". Oh my god, the way to be inclusive, to "enforce" equality is to just treat everyone the same! How hard is that?

Blacks - just treat them exactly the same as whites. It's just a skin colour for fucks sake.

Gays, who honestly cares? My brother is gay. What's the relevance? He can still be treated with respect and included.

Trans - feel free. Do whatever is right for you. Wear women's clothes for work, do whatever you want - it's fine with me. We have urinals, toilets, women's toilets, "accessible" toilets. Use whichever you want! Be mindful that if you look like a guy though, you may concern girls in toilets (for good reason). That's all. We don't need "gender free" toilets though - it's a massive inconvenience when you're forced to wait 20 minutes to use a toilet when previously, you could wait 20 seconds to piss in a urinal.

Equality was getting ridiculous. It seems to have calmed down now. Girls - if you love computer science, come! We need more women! We need more women in maths. We need more female builders. We all get the piss taken out of us, just do whatever you love regardless.

Autism, I'm autistic. You don't to mollycoddle us. You don't need to make a massive fuss (unless it's an extremely bad case). Just encourage like you would with any other child/person! Treat us the same as everyone else - it's easy.

Literally, just try to treat everyone the fairly, with respect. It's so easy.

When you start pushing these "factions", you're segregating them, fracturing society, etc. I'm fed up of it.

As regards the "inclusivity" agenda, how can it be inclusive if it doesn't include straight people? It's an exclusivity agenda, designed to give power to minorities in my opinion.

Then again, what do I know?

Equality was getting ridiculous? Women in Afghanistan aren’t allowed to talk to each other. Women in USA are dying in car parks from ectopic pregnancies due to abortion bans. Violence against women has been deemed a national emergency in the UK.

Have your homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, whatever, I’m used to it, but saying that equality is getting ridiculous is awful and you and I both know that.

Also, in regards to your comment about why doesn’t it include straight people, it’s because straight people excluded US for centuries. We had to create our own space because you didn’t want us in your spaces.

Pretty obvious no-brainer -

The divide, rule and hate increasing in this world, seems to be increasing. I try not to be victim to the demographics wars - Old/young, male, female, cis vs lgbtquia+, etc.

They only want your clicks and ad money and diluted human society incapable or any logical, sensible and sustained disdain for the current what seems to be called the "single transferable party" in the UK. (ie, political parties do nothing but help the higher echelons)

However, that doesn't mean anyone can take the piss... just because of their demographic.

A bad person is bad, doesn't matter their demographic.

When you start pushing these "factions", you're segregating them, fracturing society, etc. I'm fed up of it.

As regards the "inclusivity" agenda, how can it be inclusive if it doesn't include straight people? It's an exclusivity agenda, designed to give power to minorities in my opinion.

Then again, what do I know?"

Damn, Enoch.

All I will say is, when you’re looking at achieving equality or equity, you should stop looking at these issues on an individual level and start considering the systems and structures that prevent these things despite you or whoever else feeling like you’re a nice person. I know it’s annoying for you, I know you’re tired. Imagine how tired we are.

"I'm fed up of this "political correctness".

Literally hilarious to think that people don’t think we’re exhausted of inequality and actually, they’re the exhausted ones because they have to accommodate us being more equal.

In fact, we’re the ones that are becoming powerful. Yeah fucking right.

Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t.

You’re too woke and annoying and make people feel uncomfortable by asking people to respect your existence. And you’re making things political engaging in discussions around your identity or wanting them to be considered. And you’re giving up and you’re lost when you’re not in those spaces because you chose self preservation.

But getting stronger is important. So that we can fight the good fight when we have energy to. Don’t be angry about stepping back from spaces like fab. I’ve learned these aren’t spaces to educate or be activist. Block the bigots and avoid being in real life spaces with them. The people on here are set in their ways.

"Woke or being politically correct doesn't mean being aware of social injustices like some people in here like to believe. It actually means wanting to control what others say to suit ones narrative and thinking and its proven even down to films and tv shows you lot watch. Again this ain't my personal opinion about it, it's facts and will keep saying it until some you understand

"

Methinks your once again talking tripe.

What are these films etc that some watch and please elaborate on the facts?

The woke politically correct mob think everyone else needs "educated". Thing is, we've already been educated. The woke mob are mostly a very small minority in mainly western countries. So not only are your ideas contrary to the massive majority in western natiobs. They are contrary to the vast majority of those living on the rest of the planet currently and who have ever lived through time. So honestly. I couldn't care less about you or your ideology.

They are most definitely set in their ways. I asked a guy what was funny about laughing at disabled people and got transphobia in response. They are allowed to make jokes about everyone else but the second you make a joke about straight white men it’s OVER.

Too many people fought before me for me to just give up ! In the words of James Baldwin, a man can fall in love with a man, a woman can fall in love with a woman and there’s nothing anyone can do about it

It's an interesting term PC. It's origins are usually attributed to the Marx-Leninist post Russian revolution agenda. Where the term was used to promote conformity to the party line and marginalise would be dissidents. Parallels to Orwell's 1984 are often thrown around by those whom see this as a threat to free speech.

Others see it as a way of reducing hate speech and therefore dissolving the barriers marginalised groups face, fostering a more inclusive society.

In my limited understanding it is based upon the Whorfian hypothesis that language shapes our thought process and perceptions. However, this theory has been challenged since Chomsky's work on Universal grammar.

Ironically, Chomsky as a political activist is often seen as left-wing and yet he is an ardent supporter of free-speech. A famous quote being: 'If you don't agree with freedom of speech for people you disagree with, then you don't believe in freedom of speech. Even Stalin and Hitler supported freedom of speech for those who agreed with them.'

Personally, it is clear to me that there is a balance to be found. One in which the issues of similarity and difference can be explored and diversity is able to do it's work. I don't think that's likely in a polarised 'oh yes it is; oh no it isn't' punch and Judy show. Where people are either lefty liberal snowflakes marching us unwittingly into an Orwellian dystopia or right-wing fascists who want to keep power in the hands of white, heterosexual, cis-gendred men.

I don't think that's politically correct or even useful, on any level. Other than perhaps as a vessel for satirical humour.

You don't see the parallels in what you describe as the actions of this mob you refer to?

(Granted no one is being attacked in the street for not confirming obviously..)

Or is there no mob?

As ever, both sides in a debate picking the most egregious behaviour of the "opposing" side and fighting the straw man argument that assumes everyone with a slightly different opinion espouses all these heinous opinions.

The reality? Most people sit somewhere relatively close to centre. Most people believe their opinions are moral - and therefore believe anyone who doesn't share them is immoral and to be decried. The result is a bunch of people, most of whom would, if brought together irl, get on absolutely fine and enjoy each others company are suddenly mentally labelling each other as people to be dispised, or at the very least, disliked. I wonder how many blocks this thread will spark?

One day humans will learn what true empathy means. So many claiming to possess this ability actually mean they get a vicarious pleasure imagining the pain of others and are especially able to share the feelings of those with similar opinions. True empathy means not only feeling these emotions but being able to feel and understand how people with different opinions feel. Instead, we ascribe our own imagined feelings to those who we disagree with. We refuse to see how their opinions come from their own moral feelings and insist instead they must come from negative emotions like control, hate, lack of consideration etc.

The utter irony of some of the comments above would be funny were it not the source of so much division, and that goes for people on both sides.

Having said the above, I'm struggling to find empathy with the OP, I don't understand what they hoped to achieve with the thread. My instinctive view, is that it screams defensiveness caused by a feeling of being attacked. I am aware I am scrubbing a negative emotion to their actions so would be interested to hear their reasoning.
