Right im on a proper rant cause i'm piss off with society

6 months ago I had my bike stolen from outside my work place, i was only in there an hour but in that time someone managed to cut thro the two locks and leg it, i believed at the time of buying these was decent locks but obviously not decent enough, i was a good bike with many upgrades so i had it insured and the insurance did pay out on it, i got myself a cheapish bike to ride round on as i need it for work till the insurance paid out, when i did i went and got myself another good bike, which i have to be honest i loved to bit, this time i made sure i got top quality locks, which i bought two of costing £120 each but they come with a £800 guarantee, as the manufacturers are so convinced no one will get thro these locks they pay out £800 for them if anyone does, i saw them and thought that's the locks for me, so got two

Came out of one of my house calls today and some fucking bastard (i did warn you) had stolen my bike, only this time because they couldn't break the locks, get this!!! they actually cut thro the metal railing i had locked my bike to which makes the insurance on them void!!!

i mean seriously what the hell do you have to do now day to stop thieving twat?

Oh dear, sorry to hear about losing the replacement bike.

I hope you can claim something back via insurance, whatever insurance it may be.

How about getting a folding bike in future, so that you can take it indoors and out of sight?

Dahon and Brompton make good ones.

Good luck!

Someone had said take one of the wheels off, but the best thing to do (yes i know its too late now) is take the seat off , they are all now the quick release / adjust type.

And i know how frustrated you are . I had a quality racing bike stole from the shed , our eldest son has had 3 motorbikes stolen , 2 where recovered! The last one , he never even bother claiming on the insurance as he had a high excess and would make his next premium even higher !

Really sorry this has hapoened to you twice, I know the annoyance of having a bike stolen recently from a secure work bike park.

I have heard about a bike lamp that has a GPS tracker in it, it costs £125 plus a monthly pay as you go top up. I know it is expensive but it is a fraction of the cost of a new decent bike

of course im guessing and I never said other wise, it is a well known fact that most petty crimes are driven by drugs, lets be honest what type of people walk round the streets with bolt cutters?

I know you don't know but take an educated guess, a middle aged man who works for the council or a kid on drugs looking to feed his habbit, no its not 100% but its more likely, not that you will agree but that's besides the point

what group of people do you think walk round the street with bolt cutters look for things to pinch?

steady on there that sounds like your blaming drivers without any good reason

and it wasn't a car or van driver it was two young lads because they was seen my the lady next door who didn't come out and stop them because shes in her 80s and was nervous about confronting them, before you ask how I know and no I wouldn't expect a old lady to risk her safty for my bike

any person in a car or van with a set of bolt cutters, an angle grinder or petrol cutter etc who has the inclination to steal someones property........still makes them a scumbag and technically they are someones "kid" at any age, and chances are crime like this is to pay for a drug habit or similar, even if its to buy food as they don't wish to work perhaps, or again they could just be scumbags

I know its not much help and its a sad state of affairs but if you get a crap cheap bike maybe it won't get nicked . My son in law padlocked his bike to a wire fence and when he came back for it he found a neat bike shaped hole cut in the wire and no bike. Unfortunately nice bikes are just too portable and too much of a temptation x

Unfortunately, a lock & chain is only a deterrent; hopefully, they will look else where for something easier to steal. But you can't depend on that. It's a sad state of affairs, but you can't leave anything valuable lying around. Some may even be desperate enough to steal even a cheap, worthless bike, because they can; you have it, & they don't. I assume the economic situation over there is no different than here in the States. It's not getting any better.
