So, if you send a message to a woman and it is labelled "read" it is obviously good practice to leave it as is. (not your type etc) However, if a message is unread, nor deleted ,even after a few days or a week, what is the best practice?

Help please

Sometimes I leave people unread to remind myself to go back and respond when I can. But then sometimes that list gets a bit out of control and I can’t.

So in my instance, a gentle nudge to remind me that you’re there would help as I was (at some point) going to reply and your new hilarious engaging message will push you to the top again.

My way of doing things is probably not that popular though but thought I’d share (if it makes any sense!)

That was a point that I was hoping would be addressed. IF you accumulate a lot of messages whilst away, how would a person know the message had even been seen... (hence your prompt)

I tend to send one message, read or unread if there’s no reply I doubt I’ll message them again

If you send a message to a woman...you nonchalantly delete it from your Sent 'folder' immediately, with no cause or concern or care of its fate.

If, at some point, you receive a reply then all the better.

There is no best practice or protocol other than the aforementioned suggestion. Sending a follow up message often (but not necessarily always) leads to disappointment.

I do this too. A gently nudge by sending another (nice) message is fine. Sending ????????? Just makes me block. See also sending 10+ nudging messages.

Sometimes I just can't be arsed to open a message especially if I've checked the profile and know we aren't compatible at all or they've not read mine.

Sometimes I'll mark it unread to go back to it later.

The best approach OP? If someone wants to reply, they will. If they don't want to? They don't. There's no point giving headspace as to why that is.

We get to messages in our own time.

Sending a follow up to ask about the first will just get a dude blocked.

Follow it up with an angry rant about how it’s not hard and just basic manners to send a simple reply, that’ll get her attention and then before you know it, Robert’s your dads brother and she’s on your dick.

Bish, bish, bash.

If unread (and maybe deleted) I think it's OK to give it a week or two to try again. Sometimes your timing could have just been bad. For example they may have just not been looking for anyone new at that time, been busy with other life stuff or simply you were lost in the sea of massages. I know from personal experience I a meet with a woman on the second attempt a few weeks later. Chatting to her she said she'd just not seen/noticed my first message (she had 100s). So you can try again a bit down the line but don't bombard people.

Personally if it's left unread we would leave it, and would hope for the same from others to us as well

Best Practice is to not check your sent items. That way, you can concentrate on things if you get a response. If no response, assume 'not interested'

Read or unread, the only messages worth worrying about are the ones that are replies. 🤷‍♂️

she may have read it.. but then put it back to unread to go back to. Or maybe not interested.

Just delete sent items and you won't know x

They are also uninterested.

No one likes a pest. Leave it at one message and be done with it!

Try again later, women and couples get bombarded on here. Usually if I'm interested and it is unread, I will try again. If it is still on unread second time, I usually don't bother again.

If they haven't physically read it then yes their is a chance but how would you know they can mark the message unread and may have discounted you already .

If a woman wants to meet me and wants to meet me enough they'll message me or reply to a message I sent them. If they don't then at least I did what I could. I'll make myself known and take any non response as a no thank you.

I've had people message back but with just a few words, again, I'll take that as not interested and move on.

Carlisle usually

Delete from your sent messages and don't dwell on it. Everyone uses the system differently.

Deleting from your outbox doesn't delete it from their inbox.

If you forget and go to message them again, supporters have a helpful note at the top of a profile when viewing of when last messages were sent, and I believe the site pops up to tell you you've previously sent a message to no response if that's the case.

No point dwelling on it or worrying about it.

Focus on the messages that do get a positive response and work out how to make the rest more effective in future 💜

Thank you all for your replies which ranged from ["gently nudge with a humorous message on a 2nd go, if you didnt get a "read" or "deleted", in a couple of weeks], to ["don't bother pal, we read every message so do one, okay?"], to ["delete your sent messages and wait for replies"], to "get your crystal ball out and look for answers.

I think I'll just eat some crisps, anyone?
