Prison is failing…

So why not, if the accused is found guilty beyond any doubt, all prisons be demolished and holes dug deep, unclimbable structure, the size which is 5x5 meters in diameter and enclosed from the elements and prisoners get a make shift lavatory and that is all.

The meals and fluids provided would be basic but all of the sentence is to be served in their holes and exercise will be walking the 5x5 meter area and push ups or whatever can be done with the body alone.

Sleeping system a simple roll mat and sleeping bag.

Easily maintained, easily managed and short term attendees may think twice about getting sentenced again.

That’s my rant of the day 😂 peace out 😁

"And what of the ones with doubt?"

Surely if there’s doubt the cps will make the decision.

And this is for youth offenders too?

And women and men convicted of murdering their abusers?

And people failed by a government - who turn to crime to feed their families?

Mentally unwell who are sent back into the community with no support?

Yeah - sounds fucking cracking that idea.

Yeah that will work. They will come out really well rounded with fab mental health and definitely not require multiple agencies to support them at the expense of the tax payer 🤠

Rehabilitation is over rated

If found guilty that’s your bed, if prison is failing as suggested it’s a very ficking cracking idea.

The support needed for many can be done via an inbuilt, into structure, video screen.

If innocent then the perp wouldn’t be in the position or will, after appeal, be set free.

Human rights is life itself no? And being fed and watered no?

Found guilty of what?

So under your proposed system there’s one solution to suit all?

No rehabilitation?

No help?

A parent stealing to feed their family or any other example you suggest all get the same.

Well I think the tax payers are already paying billions in overcrowded prisons as it is, are more prisons going to be built over the necessity for housing 🤷🏽‍♂️ I think not but if they did guess who’s forking out for it.

Plus I think the rehab would be not wanting to go to prison, the hole, again.

Yes, and the families struggling would probably no longer struggle because the cost to taxes would be reduced, imo.

There’s probably other solutions but this is my idea and I’m sticking to it.

Nah, anyone found guilty of a hideous crime , send them abroad to a real prison. And let them actually serve time properly without all the luxuries our prisons here seem to let them have or earn.

Ok. So your argument is due to overcrowding & taxpayers money?

So instead of hospitals - let’s put sick people in a hole. They can have meds thrown down to them. If they don’t want to be left in a hole, then they’ll choose not to get ill any more.

Same logic. No?

Are people in hospitals committing crimes? No!!

But build superior hospitals on the remaining unused grounds of old prisons 👍🏽 good thinking.

Central

We need to make our society safer plus more healthy and prosperous.

People will make mistakes, take wrong choices and this becomes society's problem, which it is better to prevent from escalation into longer term issues.

If we treat people without rehabilitation, to prevent problems getting bigger, we are stupid and ignorant about what works, for the benefit of everyone

For these most serious of crimes (I can't even type that h-word) the hole feels right. Sunglasses on the tube criminal types would languish in there too.

For most criminals though, OP, I think the deprivation of liberty in prison is punishment enough. I don't generally want the state chucking people into holes in the ground.

And I've no idea how it's any cheaper anyway, if that's your concern.

The more doubt, the bigger the hole.

-You could go that way.

You could throw in the odd luxury too if the crime is minor or not dangerous...like let's say you've accumulated a bunch of unpaid parking fines.

If you made the hole like a hobbit house, I'd park illegally just get a holiday down there for free.

The nation is broken, health care is broken, social care and community mental hear are… you get me.

There are children who are brought up in circumstances that they get home from school and ther is no food. They go to bed on ther own in the clothes the wore today and my even wet the bed, they get to school on ther own and they smell and are mocked by children who just don’t understand, so a child who is hungry and smells steels someone’s else’s lunch or packet of crisps.

Before you know it they are not 8 anymore ther 15 and seen by some of society as men or women who should be punished.

I personally feel we should be helping people much deeper that the low level surface support that is often provided.

And as for letting of women who hurt men let’s balance it up and say and man women or non binary who is in that situation is respected And cared for just as much as any other sex.

Thanks for those who can read.

How much extra compensation would taxpayers have needed to fork out for the nearly 1,000 wrongly convicted postmasters?

Whatever the figure would be I'm pretty sure it would dwarf the £1.8bn that has already been allocated.

I actually had to look up if that was a British billion (12 zeroes) or an American billion (9 zeroes). Apparently, we use the American system for official figures now so it's 9 zeroes. Still a fucking big number, though.
