So today I told asked someone how they were.

They told me they were overworked to which o replied “you need to make sure you’re doing what’s right for you as you’re looking tired”

Apparently you cannot tell someone they are looking tired according to HR!! As apparently it can imply they look “rough”, the person was male I said this to

Are we getting to a point now where it’s easier to not acknowledge anyone in the work place or to say nothing at all

Today I told a coworker I would fistfuck his mother if he didnt hurry up.

I think it depends on the workplace if I'm honest.

HR were probably more concerned about you validating their statement about being overworked 💜

If your company does have a HR dept, you can bet they’re a snowflake and can’t allow any kind of comments being made just in case they get misinterpreted and offended 🙄

What is the wider context?

I sometimes feel concerned for friends if they look tired but have learned not to tell them because it can come across as an insult.

Did you explain that you meant no harm ?

Today I called the postmaster a lazy limping alcoholic cunt, oh how we chuckled! I guess it depends on where you work?

The context was they were saying how they were overworked and were or are doing above or way above their hours.

They did look tired, wiped out, and I said you do look tired.

Nothing more or less.

It was apparently overheard and was told to HR

Overheard by who?

It seems to be an over zealous HR department. Did they speak to you directly?

I frequently call the boss of my business a dickhead, because sometimes he is.

Lucky there's no HR department......😁

I sit next to guy who has had 5 people from my work sacked for "having a laugh"

And last week one of the supervisors made an innocent banter comment. He's reported him for it. I've heard a lot worse said before. I have to be really really careful around him.

Worst thing is I'm horny all the time and I work with all men...

Not true, HR was fab in work after my then boss, kicked off at me for not finishing an experiment as I was in hospital as I was bleeding when pregnant. Same boss then bullied me when I came back from maternity. There are well defined rules if someone breaks them you need someone to turn to.

When I worked in city we had a guy like that a complete maggot. Couple of us one night after work removed a wheel off his car in carpark Was hilarious seeing him rage wanting everyone he suspected fired

Nothing happened as no evidence it was anyone from office as we had a big shared carpark with 4 other companies

If they were really sacked for 'having a laugh' then they should seek advice. There are procedures that have to be followed before people can be sacked or it leaves the company open to litigation.

I've only ever worked for one company where HR was involved but it was external.

One of my staff verbally abused me for the first 5 hours of his shift, refusing to do anything he was asked to do, even when I told him to leave the premises.

Eventually when I told him he was an attention seeker he responded by headbutting me and followed that up by punching me which I obviously reacted to and retaliated.

He claimed to be having MH issues and went off on the sick for 2 months while I was immediately suspended for gross misconduct. Apparently self defence isn't an acceptable excuse and I must have wound him up.

I was reinstated within a few hours by the MD who told the HR company they really hadn't a clue. They insisted there were procedures that had to be followed to the letter.
