It's not always about the shagging. What memorable acts of kindness have you received on FAB or the lifestyle in general?

Earlier this year I had a shitty day, posted a thread asking for hugs and the responses I got genuinely helped at a time I didn't want to be alone.

Attending my first social, I was an anxious mess, but when I was there a more experienced swinger took me under their wing and made the whole experience much more enjoyable.

I've had people reach out to me when I was in a very dark place mentally... I try to do the same for others as I know how overwhelming it can be xx

Yes quite a few times actually, there's some nice people who dwell on the forums.

Maybe one day I can repay that in kind.

One person noticed if I'm missing or not my usual self.

Another was very kind after my mum died.

My boudoir - S Wales

It’s always nice when the people you’re meeting contact you to check in more than just flirt. That’s nice. Doesn’t happen all the time though unfortunately.

Oh and someone once put my curtain pole back up after I stood on my curtain and pulled it down. Wasn’t my finest moment being attacked by my curtain while naked and trying to be sexy.

I have made some really wonderful and caring friends on here.

There are two who stand out and have always been there to listen and support me through what has been a tough year.

One on particular has got to know me very well and if wasn’t for her support through a difficult time it would of been tougher to get through for sure.

Some see Fab as just a sex site, i truly see it as a community and love to make bonds with those i chat too.

It doesn’t always mean i am looking to bed them.

.

The person who listened, unwavering, when I was so angry at the world after one of my closest friends died.

The support animal who showed up time and time again for me when I was in a quite toxic relationship. Lost a lot of confidence. Their love and support and utter chaos and absurdity means the world to me.

The friends who check in and notice when things aren't quite right. There to celebrate the successes, to laugh and enjoy the good times, to help me voice how I'm really feeling. Say fuck no when I'm about to make a mistake or love me through it. The one who I can unmask with, the one who kept me sane during Covid, the one who always reminds me to keep finding the light.

And then there's the forums. I know, I know, it's full of faux compliments, silliness and petty bickering. Last year I was in hospital a lot. I was really scared. And I posted a daft thread, wanted to take my mind off of things. People didn't have to respond. They chose to. Showed real kindness. Messaged to check in, to offer light relief. Made me feel seen.

People can be rather disparaging about friendships from Fab. Like they're somehow lesser because of where they started. But I've found friendships that transcend Fab, kindness that makes me forget about the daft squabbles. I'll never be too cynical about Fab, the people on it because I've had too many positives experiences that remind me of the good in people.

We're all flawed and a bit fucked up but there are acts of kindness aplenty to be found when you need them most.

Pretty much this.

From people who have checked in when they’ve noticed I’ve not been about so much, to people who have (gently) questioned some of my forum interactions, to people who have picked the pieces up as I’ve had some stuff going on.

It took me a while to get my head around ‘well, they’re from fab so this can’t be genuine/ok’ to ‘ohhh, there’s just some really genuinely lovely people here’. I count myself really lucky with some of the friendships I’ve forged here.

There a few friends that check on and one or two that just know when I'm not *quite myself.

I do try to pop a message over if I notice someone's down or taking a break from the place. Just in case they need an ear

Posted before I'd finished waffling but yes I'm very fortunate to have made friends on here that can and have helped me out of some dark places. They mean a lot more to me than they realise ❤️

I try my best to look in on people and I'm thankful others have done the same.

I go through little dark periods in life and although I act like I don't want or need anyone I appreciate people who'll talk and hear my shite. In some cases it's been on here and I get some catharsis from talking in the forums.

La la land

I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy which I nearly died of during COVID. Was one of the scariest things I've endured finding out you were pregnant by it rupturing and ending in hospital by yourself. I mentioned it on a thread and the amount of people who messaged with their stories helped me so much. I really do appreciate that anonymous shouting into the forum.

The Fab friend who drove me all the way from Coventry to Manchester for hospital; and fetched me again two days later.

On occasions when I have posted re mh issues or grief issues have been received many lovely messages from people here.

Some of my closest friends were made on the kink scene and often found people willing to help others learn and tried to give back myself

Of course. Some great people I had a lot of kindness from and also have tried to do the same myself to. Always in private and whenever needed. I am sure most decent people will try and support others when yhey need that.

I’ve made some wonderful lifelong friends on here from when I hosted socials.

Births, deaths and marriages… we all help each other through the good and bad

As for the naughty side… we’ve all assisted each other in one way or another 😈

The Forum regulars of old helped me through a tough time when my friend became terminally ill

I don't have those connections now and tbh, I miss them

Moments of tenderness and kindness which almost awe

Next thread, roaring laughing at someone's antics or a well timed, throw away comment that just floors you

We are, when it comes to it, human before we are sexual

I find it tiresome to read threads that are purely sexual

I don't know about others, but I become far more intrigued by the non-sexual than the sexual

Some lovely people on here gave us a hedge trimmer after we met. (if you two read this and smile do say hello 😊) . We don't think it was a hint and it does a lovely job on the bits you can't reach.
