The run of books he wrote from The Time Machine to First Men In The Moon basically invents (or provides a popular example of) most of the sci-fi sub-genres that are still in use today. Plus books like The War In The Air and The Shape Of Things To Come that predict future events. Some of his early non-'scientific romances' aren't bad either.
