Pushy children..

Why do some children think that life is all about them? now going through the third stage of step-daughter getting her mother (my wife) to do all her running around, fetching and carrying before moving back down here to ruin life as it should be.

Im afraid its what kids do....i always think im a mug for fetching and carrying but if im really honest i feel lost when they are not here to do it for.

Life does revolve around kids if we like it or not.

you have to blame the parents for spoiling then in the first place.

i see it all the time where the poor old hubby gets neglected because the wife spends too much time fussing over her kids.

think children are a life long commitment though and no parent would say at the age of 18 'your completely on your own now, no help EVER.'

If the wife wasnt happy id like to think she could say that 'enough is enough, time to fend for yourself and become a tad more independent'

Sounds like she's got a lovely mum, what's wrong with her mum wanting to help her move back?

I don't think we know quite enough to comment on this, do we? All the comments are correct - kids are a lifelong commitment, and it sounds likely there's some jealousy involved here. But then again, perhaps the stepdaughter is asking for too much. How would we know?

Can totally tell she's not your daughter because my daughter drives me crazy but I don't ever bad mouth her to randoms sort it mate I'm sure your wife wouldn't appreciate it either

my son lost his job as was going to become homeless, he didnt expect to move back in with us but we were glad we could help him move back in.

he realises how lucky he is compared to some poor people but we help him and he helps us in return.
