Dear Gentlemën, Ladiës, Nøn-Binariës and Whateveriës,

I shall be lunching in the fair city of Birmingham soon (she's treating). It's been left to me to find a suitable eatery. Can somebody please suggest an urbane eating establishment for lunch? Somewhere very central. I know next to nothing about this metropolis and she knows next-to-nothing still.

Thank you.

The Wilderness is amazing. Expensive but worth it

If not there are some amazing curry houses. Real top notch places

Second vote for Brindley Place. Cosy Club is nice, or head slightly into town and try Albert Schloss 😘

Cafe Soya. You'll think it's a dive when you see it, but soon as you eat you'll understand why it is constantly busy. Take cash!

Orelle if you're fancying something a bit wankier. Really good French food.

Tokyo Izakaya for a beautiful decorated, fantastically fresh Sushi restaurant.

I adore Fazenda but that might not be the right vibe.

The Botanist is a chain but has a great menu that's fairly reasonably priced.

The Mayan is glorious - loved the staff there.

My favourite Italian is Cucina Rustica which is a little bit out of the city centre in the Jewellery Quarter but the food is so so good.

If you're looking for something lighter/quicker, go to Tiger Bites Pig for some excellent bao (the sandwich things not the dumplings), right by the station and it's very good.

Ordinarily this would be fine, but I don't wish to exchange turmeric between (potential) kisses.🙂

by the big field

You can't get more central than Grand Central- Comptoir Libanais for a cracking Lebanese or directly opposite it you have Tapas Revolution, good food and more than enough choice for all tastes...you can also get a grandstand view of Ozzy the Commonwealth Games bull if you sit by the windows.

The Botanist is always a safe option. There's a wonderful one in Kew, just outside the Royal Botanic Gardens. Thank you for your suggestions. 🦋

Come to think of it, now that the Art gallery is back open, you should go to the Edwardian tearoom there. Amazing ambiance and architecture and really nice food.
