I like the tradition but you have something delicious and then there's and apple beneath it!!!! It has that boobie prize feeling.

I dip bread sticks in chocolate and cover them with sprinkles to make edible sparklers with my kids at work. That way they can see its a bread stick and not grow up thinking all adults are ruel and evil deceivers like us gen xers did.
