This is a post to share your passion for another part of the world. Maybe you've visited it in the past and have fond memories, maybe it's a country where you admire their culture, customs and lifestyles but have never actually been to, maybe its on the bucket list. Let's show some love for those far flung places and those that reside there.

I'll get the ball rolling

I love the bones of Mexico. It is such a vibrant and colourful country filled with so many warm and welcoming people. Great music, delicious food, incredible geography - beaches, underwater caves, deserts, jungles it is a travellers delight. Home to the legendary Frida Kharlo and teaming with artisans producing phenomenal handicrafts - silver and leather being my favourits. Such an epic history with the Aztecs and Mayans and later the conquistadors.

Oh, and not to forget la dia de la muertos - the day of the Dead.

If I won the lottery I'd definitely buy a place south of the border in little ol Mexico.

Japan: always Japan

The food, the culture, the landscape and the architecture. And the people too - can’t wait to visit again.

I get the feeling Japan would feature on the list.

Forest of Dean

Italy, specifically Tuscany. I’ve been a few times and it feels like coming home every time.

Norway, just breathtaking views. I love the fjords and into the mountains. Stunning place to visit.

Kefalonia - spent a month there in a little village and felt right at home. Loveliest people on the planet

Egypt - for the history and the diving.

That's quite a mix. I can almost hear the music of the med in this post. I'm guessing lots of wine, cheese and olives too.

Chicago! I love Chicago! First visited in 2004. Navy Pier, best sub sandwiches. All cuisines available by actual owners on old recipes. Nothing better.

Locals have great characters.

Don't believe the crap you hear about the place.

Barcelona is my next favourite.

I love the US. Huge fan of the South West and border towns. The vast majority of Americans I've met have been awesome. Unfortunately I overstayed my welcome so I cannot return. Ever made it to Chicago. You'll have to visit on my behalf x

All over

Different places for different reasons. Just a couple for now so will say Portugal ( off the tourist track), food, scenery, people and a bit of fado for the soul. Also, you can't beat some of the greek islands too for food, culture, hospitality that amazing blue sea. Will come back with more later

Went to turkey in August to marmaris. Weather was nuts average at 40 and the evening was 30. Great place but the shop owners and bars wouldn’t leave you alone. After 3 days we spent most of our evenings in icemiiller so much more relaxed and enjoyable

I couldn't imagine you over staying your welcome there...ahem... but I'll lobby on your behalf when I'm there next year! I can go from Chicago to L.A in the south west, and take in more of Route 66.

I could smuggle you back
