Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Are you grinding your teeth in your sleep? Do you have a cold? If you do you might have your nose dripping internally onto a tooth nerve.

Try raising your pillows higher. When I had toothache the dentist said the different blood pressure from laying down made it hurt more.

I had that, the only way I could drop off to sleep was to try and nod off sat up, turns out I had an infection in one of my teeth and had to have it removed

You can become more aware of pain in the night too, especially between 3-5am. In the day, there are lots of distractions and noise. In early quiet hours, one becomes more aware of oneself.

So at night, your jaw is shouting 'hallelujah she is giving me a break'

Due to the current economy and recent changes to benefits - people are spending less money on sweets and therefore are losing teeth at a diminished rate. The tooth fairy is therefore suffering a shortage in supply and feeling the pinch!!

As such she's now going round peoples houses at night and trying to remove teeth, rather than just waiting for them to fall out naturally. The pain you're feeling could possibly be as a result of one of her visits where she will use a variety of implements to attempt removal - pliers, cordless drill, TNT, piece of cotton attached to a door handle etc.

Try going to bed for a few nights wearing a crash helmet with a closed face visor - if your situation improves - you're definately a victim of the fairy. At which point I'd suggest investing in some kind of electric fence around your bed or perhaps a kevlar mosquito net.

Hope this helps!

Dr Obi !

Are you having anything else done? Mine was Band 2 treatment which included the root canal which was £49 quid.

Yup the root removal is band 2 but the good old crown to go on top, if you opt to have that finished whacks the treatment plan up to £214 top rate.

Or dont have the crown put on, just get by on the band 2 filling.

Or get the tooth extracted. Thats also band 2 treatment.

will double check then, as far as im aware its just a root canal and normal filling to go on top.

he mentioned that if the work he carried out today (the start of the canal) wasn't helping with the pain relief and i was still in agony it was worth going with the cheaper option of the extraction

thats why i thought it was the £214 option (band 3)

Extraction is band 2 treatment, unless he is including a fee for an immediate replacement denture in that cost.

The nerve root should be gone so the pain should settle with anti inflammatories over the next day or so, plus any anti biotics given.

If he couldnt see the whole nerve or it was a bad infection, or a cracked tooth ( these are hard to save) then he's right, extraction would be better. Or if there was any doubt whether it was a periodontal or apical abscess.

Endodontics is a difficult area to get right, a straightforward one will be fine but a difficult one could leave you in pain for ages, so an extraction could be the answer.

Mini implants dont cost the earth these days, so dont let an extraction upset you xx

nobodys angel are you a dentist or just super clued up? lol xx

id like to save the tooth if possible, he opened it up and said the nerve was in a bad way. he put some disinfectant on it then covered it up. im to return in a week for the other half of the treatment

i dont mind the dentist one bit so was happy to go along with what he considered the right treatment.

although he did an xray and seems to thing i dont have any wisdom teeth. bonus if he's right but i thought everyone has them lol
