Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Do you have them in life and at work?

I'm often a little surprised at some of the kissing circles that claim me.

Usually, when someone says 'all form a circle' there are several different ideas that spring to mind.

The kissing circle is that odd thing where people show that you are one of them by greeting you with a kiss. This is not family and friends where you might meet and greet with a kiss but acquaintances and work colleagues.

When I worked in HIV the kissing circle started at the beginning of meetings to show that we weren't afraid of the disease but now it's everywhere.

wirral

I have to admiot I'm not sure what they are either.

However I used to work for a company in Manchester, which had offices around the country.

In the Manchester office it was standard practice for there to be hugs and kisses especially amongst the sales staff. There'd be the Monday morning kiss, the Friday afternoon kiss and the cake run orgy, sorry I mean hugs and kisses.

Instigators of all this kissing, well mainly the ladies actually but I never heard any of the guys refuse to partake....

So come on Lickety whats a kissing circle or is this a London thing?

That sounds like a kissing circle to me. It happens to me all over the country, not just London.

That's the problem with the kissing circle - if you don't kiss someone it sends out a really big message. As does including someone new into the circle.

Exactly...but there are different levels....one colleague always goes for a lips kiss (cheeky) and gets away with it, another one goes for it and gets the cheeky swerve....but because it is all done so quickly it's fine...

Nor me.

How many do you need as a minimum?

If only two of you do it that would be odd.

Just me, I think. She is tactile but more so with me.

Never come across it in work before. I meet one hell of a lot of people. Maybe it is industry specific ?

Socially I hate the air kissing with the exaggerated mwahs. Makes me mutter rude words

What rude words can you utter that sound like mwah?

I've been in a kissing circle with journalists, bankers and luvvies. Perhaps it's just me?

It's ok - I don't know anyone who describes me as normal.

I utter the rude words when I see people do it. I don't do it myself.

What about the "stealth air kiss"? You hold out your hand to shake, which they use to pull you in and swoop!

Worst case scenario, accompanied by the words "We do three", prolonging the cringing.

I've been in all female kissing circles. I ran an organisation where for one reason and another I only employed women. We all kissed and sat down to lunch together once a week. It was lovely.
