Not looking for single guys

After updating my profile I checked to see what it looked like as others view it, and I noticed that it said "Not looking for single males", which struck me as odd (as if I WOULD be interested in meeting a male that wasn't single).

I've worked out that it's because my settings block messages from single male profiles (I kept getting cock compliments from guys, which I find a bit freaky), but that's not the same as 'Not looking for....'

If my profile specifies Women, Couples MF, and Couples FF (hey, I can dream can't I?), then there's no need for it to say what I DON'T want, any guy who tries to message me will know he can't when he tries.

I changed the settings so Couples MM can't message me either, but it still reads the same

You're missing the point. If I was to specify a specific range of say 18-40, it wouldn't then say 'does not meet over 40s', because there is no need to. The logic applies to both, guys of any kind are not in the list of what I DO want, so therefore there's no need to say that I DON'T want them

It is a specific statement that leaves open anything that that doesn't fit that particular description, that's what I see when I read it.

I understand what you mean and agree with you, If your profile says straight you shouldn't have to filter single males or mm, same with age, you shouldn't need to filter 25-50 only, people should have respect for what is written on profiles. But unfortunately you will always get the opportunists who will message you in the hope that if you don't try you don't get. I'd love to be able to filter straight males from contacting me bit to enable that I'd have to block all single males.

its because men outnumber women (the site knows that). there are a lot of straight men and curious men too. the site administrators KNOW this via a simple database query.

its like they have been mollycoddled so much as soon as they enter the real world and realise that men might wanna go with other men that it 'freaks them out' lol.

How would you feel (assuming your straight) if everyone else were homosexual and someone wrote on their profile that they were 'freaked out' by a hetrosexual contacting you? you'd feel a bit insulted!!!!

Its because single males are the main perpertrators to not reading profiles properly, so its on there in the hope that if all they are doing is skimming a profile they have more chance in noticing that there is no point in hitting the message button to then feel rejection and wasting their time.

I don't get the issue. You're not interested in meeting single guys for sex so you put a filter on. That filter puts something on your profile letting the single guys know your not looking for them so they can move on without bothering you.

What's wrong with that

I'm not looking for single guys either - hence there's no 'M' listed in those I'm looking to meet.

I still get the chancers - but I just delete or ignore or block.

I am however happy to chat re forum posts, answer questions and enjoy banter with a few regulars. So I don't block incoming messages from males.

You don't want contact so you've applied the filter. The 'not looking for single males' message is a side effect of this, but since, lets face it, you're not looking for them - does it really matter?

Right! I don't want this to be about the 'freaky' comment I made. So let me say this.

Freaky was probably the wrong choice of word, but when I see I have messages on here I tend to be rather pleased, excited even (coz I'm not exactly beating the women off with a stick), so imagine how I feel if I open a message and see it's from a guy.

Does anyone enjoy a let down like that? No!

It's because guys are thickos who only think with their dick. Hence they need it spelling out when browsing pics. I think they tried to show it in pics rather than text to make it easier, but that didn't work either.

Take it off if it annoys you that much but just accept to get freaked out more. Your words. Not mine.

It's just another way people will know you are not looking for contact from males. How annoying would it be if nothing on the profile told one-hour not interested yet when they went to message you they couldn't. This way they know from that one small line and won't bother clicking message. Works all Round.

Y'know I was just making an observation, I'm not trying to convey annoyance, just my puzzlement at it's inclusion, because when I saw it I could imagine it being interpreted the wrong way by some, i.e. that a non-single guy would be welcome.

It's not necessary to warn anyone coz it doesn't take Spock-like logic to work it out from the rest of the info If they don't read it properly, one click on the message button will alert them anyway

Wtf!! Well, thats me just wasted 10mins out of my day with this thread!

If it bothers you that much mate, take the filter off and it won't appear on your profile. AND, that way, you may still get the odd thrill of a message every now n again!
