The actor Daniel Dae Kim just keeps on getting better looking. Oddly when I watched lost the first time I never found him that appealing and much preferred sawyer or Richard Alpert

I think that Lost is indicative of everything that’s wrong with TV series.

A great concept but they keep getting more convoluted, the show runners don’t have an overall plan of what’s going to happen, so just keep throwing random ideas out.

Eventually it becomes a parody of itself and when the end does come, it’s deeply unsatisfying as the creators have zero idea what they’re going to do or how the story actually ends

The wife watched it to the bitter end - where they ripped of the final episode of Quantum Leap anyway.

The world has wised up to JJ Abrams' "mystery box" crap, a system which hypes up an alluring riddle to entice, ultimately leading to either nonsensical answers or no answers whatsoever. Abrams came up with the idea as a one-off TV pilot, but it was picked up for a full series, and the mystery boxes were desperately piled up to keep the show running.

The wife really enjoyed Lost, and often forgives a dip in quality when a show's running out of ideas (Homeland, etc) but even she found the last couple of years a chore to watch, and did so just to see how it turned out in the end.

There is so much money to be made in successful US TV shows that it's a fight to keep it on the air as long as possible, even if it harms the show itself. Without this, Charlie's Angels wouldn't have spent the final season in Hawaii, nor would Roseanne have won the lottery and brought her husband back from the dead. They wouldn't have kept Happy Days going for a few more years when leading actor Ron Howard left. Hell, the series went so far up its arse that it ended up coining the phase "jump the shark".

You can argue that it's all about the journey rather than the destination, but when making so many unnecessary detours into cul-de-sacs, and along numerous winding roads which don't go anywhere, you wonder if it's worth it.

Most TV series start with only a pilot episode. Most have no ending but lost writers always knew what the ending was from the very start.

A story of science vs faith, human behaviour, emotions and coping mechanisms and felt the ending was a nice way to think of what might happen to us all at the end. See you in the church brother
