Just made my first coffee of the day and realised that for someone who lives alone I have rather a lot of mugs. 15.

Are you disproportionately overloaded with hot drink recepticles given the number of mouths in your house/flat, or do you have a more rational mug to mouth ratio?

And do you have a favourite?

Idle hump day musings.....soz. 🤷‍♂️

Oh lord, so many mugs. I have had to enforce a one in, one out rule on my mugs.

I use different mugs for different things. I tend to have a couple of favourites which I rotate as my everyday mug. I don’t like a mug to be too chunky. And I love the hand thrown look, but hate the scratchy feeling, has to be a smooth surface.

I have thought about mugs a lot

We have many, many mugs but we both just stick to the same couple of favourites.

Mine is a china one that says his majesty on it.

Henriettes is the one her best friend gave her with a cartoon picture of them both from behind holding their favourite drinks, it’s cute.

We have loads more mugs than we need and use the same ones every day 🤷‍♀️. One each for our morning and evening drink and one each for our drinks during the day. We have never had enough people in the house to even come close to using half of them.

Yes! I have more than I need. Accumulated over the years. My favourite is one with little Giraffes all over it, it's not like a mug shaped mug bit it I'd barrelly shaped mug. Very aesthetically pleasing

My mug at work has my name on and woe betide any muthahecka who touches it

Too chunky makes for weight lifting if it's a large mug. Risk of repetitive strain injury if used frequently.

Mug thickness is important though.

As Jack Reacher once said...."A bad coffee mug has a thick lip. Too wide, too shallow, too much mass and it will cool the drink too fast. A good coffee mug is cylindrical in shape, narrow in relation to its height and with a thin lip." 😉

Reacher is bang on about the lip thickness! I quite like a wide mug though, one I can cradle in both hands.

I do have a lot of mugs but what I have found that I have a overwhelmingly large collection of are water bottles, all varying brands materials capacities or designs but chances are if you can think of a bottle I have it and I have no idea why

I can’t find my Seattle tumbler. I can only drink coffee from that. 😓

I am pretty much the only one who has hot drinks here so yes, we have too many. But they come in handy when the teenagers have taken all drinking glasses to their rooms 🙄🙄🙄

I have around 8/9 mugs. 1 I use all the time, the others are Le Cruset and I don’t trust myself to handle them responsibly. Same with scissors ✂️

And, amusingly, I almost exclusively drink tea, out of a rather nice cup and saucer, which I wash and reuse every time I make tea.
