For CD/TV I like to have an idea of male mode if I'm looking to meet them, just so I'm not surprised by it, as I'd expect to see it in person at some point if it's just something they do for fun or consider it a primarily sexual thing.

I have been told I am unrecognisable in a wig and make up, a few others I have met have ignored me as a guy.

It makes a big difference in my case, but I use the wig to change the shape of my face, eyeliner to change the eyes and so on.

How would you know?

Because despite what you may have been told there is only a tiny percentage of transwomen that can actually pass. So if/when the genuinely straight man gets to the sexual aspect of the relationship and finds a penis and testicles he is going to be horrified by the deception. If he says he doesn't care because he's in love and doesn't mind that his love has dangly bits then he isn't 100% straight.
