What happened to making an effort.

I’m in Glasgow and two girls have just come in. Both absolutely stunning. Hair and make up flawless. Elegant dresses, killer heels.

The guy with them. Trainers, casual trousers and a sweatshirt.

Standards have really fallen

I’m not saying suited and booted but your outfit should reflect your partners effort and should be different from what you wear picking up a takeaway or sitting in front of the tv

Fashions change as does taste. One day your in a tracksuit as a teenager then a suit in your 30s in a office job. Before you know it your wearing joggers as it's easy for the care staff in the home

what you wear doesn't represent effort, it's how you act.

Maybe her outfit should have matched his?

I think the biggest indictment of out current society is you feeling the need to start a thread about it though tbh

It irks me when at clubs sometimes when women generally all look amazing and go to great efforts to look this way, most men also and then there is some chap walking around in jeans trainers and a dirty t shirt.

Each to their own, in fact crack on. Hopefully it elevates me in a clean pressed shirt, shoes and trousers and looking smart 😁

Gentlemen — make an effort. You heard it here first. Up your sartorial game, dispense with the boomtown rat look, wear your stitches with pride, don't be perfunctory with your attire, it's serious business, not satire.

About 3 feet away from the fence

I prefer how it is nowadays.

On the other end of the scale you get those old men who are so invested in the old "make an effort" mentality, they're wearing suits to go to the corner shop, and they're wearing it so often that the suit turns brown.

But if I decide to wear a suit to do the weekly shop, should my husband also dress up, or just stick with a casual look? I'd be somewhat overdressed on a Sunday afternoon.

If you're collecting your groceries from Harvey Nichols, KC², then I would expect you to be attired suitably in a couture A-line outfit.

That could well be my son and his friends with my daughters and his friend's girlfriends.

Unless they're going to a wedding or bar where trainers and track suits aren't allowed they'll wear comfortable, yet expensive clothing.
