When it comes to Fab, what people from Fab say etc...

How likely are you to readily believe it? Do you ever question how truthful a person is being?

Would you say you're more cynical or grounded?

Hey Meli

I find myself pretty cynical these days. I don't like being so, but experience has made it necessary to be fairly guarded.

I'm cynical, jaded and rarely believe anyone over anything these days thanks to recent experience.

However I don't like feeling like this.

I'm actively challenging myself to go back to hopefully romantic and seeing the best in everyone.

Cynical, grounded, realist... Probably a combination of all three.

I never trust anything anyone says until I look them in the eye as they're saying it, and even then I'm probably pretty guarded over my belief levels.

I think I'm realistic.

I don't believe anything, randomers.or friends. The reason we're talking is because they want sex, which is fair enough, but I'm well aware what guys will say to get what they want.

Is it the truth what they say to me? God no. Do I care? Not really.

I start at face value and then act accordingly to what my intuition is telling me but if something feels off, it usually is. Once I start questioning someone, there's not much they can do so easier to just leave it there.. I don't need to find out more.

Do you think you can be guarded without being cynical? I worry that if cynicism takes over than you (a general you) could miss out on things. Guard against positivity almost. Hard to explain.

I think prolonged experience tends to make me very cynical.

With the amount of times I have had been messed about with on here.

I see what you're saying, but I don't think I'm letting it get in the way of potential positives. Have the fun, but do so with the awareness that maybe not all is initially as it seems.

But you'd hope you would be believed yes? So we kind of don't trust others but hope that people believe us?

No, don't see the best in everyone! People are flawed and that's okay. You can still be soft and with a romantic nature without thinking the sun shines out of everyone's arse.

I try to take what people say on here with a pinch of salt and just try to go with the flow with little to no expectations. Fab has become more of a chat site for us now to be honest. We tend to have more joy meeting people at clubs, it's just gone dead on here lately as no one really seems to be serious about meeting through here.

It goes both ways to be honest. Lost count of the amount of single women on here who show a. Interest seem genuine, but then want payment for something or other.

The biggest one is when they want me to buy them a site supporter pass or want money to go out with their mates or just flat out soliciting.

Trying desperately not to be so negative but years of it wears you down. Or arranging a meeting and they never show up.

It's certainly contextual — for those Fabbers who exist within the confines of my WhatsApp I would believe, with no corroboration. On Fab, however, I would need further attestations from other forum-dwellers to ensure whatever was being said was the gospel † truth.

At the end of the day does it really matter? Fab is just a mythical fantasy.

Fab doesn't activate my cynicism. It's all a bit of craic and diversion. To be fair, as a guy I don't really have to deal any of the shite that women get on the daily.

I save the cynicism for my elected government and state apparatus.

Generally, I take people as I find them and look for the best in everyone.

That’s harder to do as accurately online, without the benefit of tone and body language. There’s also the additional difficulty of people being very guarded on fab, keeping things hidden, not always with nefarious intent but often as a way of safeguarding their privacy, given the nature of the site.

So I don’t think I’m more cynical, but over the years and following some missteps I’ve learned to reserve judgement more.

Total Cynic

Fab is escapism for so many and they can be and say anything, some lies are said so often they become false truths for the person. Each to their own, as long as it doesn't Involve me, they can say/be whatever they like.

On here cynical - tend to find it’s easier to be cynical at first and then get pleasantly surprised if the person you talk to turns out to be real/not with a partner/have no issues or major defaults and fits our dynamics.

I was never cynical before joining fab but I plateaued a few years ago and absolutely nothing surprises me here anymore.

I've had people tell me I was the only one they were chatting to on fab, the only one who truly understood them and the only one they trusted while at the same time they were able to update me on who was doing what to who and why.

I've been told to avoid certain dangerous, hideous women who should have their kids taken away from them because of the things they have done but each and every one of those horrible women have since been verified as the most amazing and lovely people by their accusers.

I think I'm exceptionally grounded and don't seek out drama but some people see that as a challenge and feel the need to feed me the juicy bits.

Yes, if it’s been said on fab it must be true.

It's the Internet. Absolutely everything you read on the Internet is the absolute truth 😂.

No, we're very cynical to a degree. This site is in a way a "swingers social media". Everyone wants to make it look like they have the "perfect life" on socials - the nice cars/house/family/watch/holidays etc etc etc. Obviously you can only judge what's put in front of you.

I work on the basis that everyone has an agenda.

.

None of us would be here otherwise if we didn't, would we ?

.

So once that understanding is accepted, it's simply a matter of seeing if their agenda is compatible and harmonious with yours.

.

If it is, then great. If it isn't then is there flexibility to be willing to meet in the the middle ? If there is not, then the agendas do not align.

.

Do not waste time on agendas that do not serve you, and be mindful that everyone has an agenda.
