We all know at least one, quite plain janes, nothing outwardly stands out as being attractive yet they seem to turn heads with the guys every time they walk in a room. They are definetly a "mans" woman. Men do silly things for these women like leave their wives or give them fast amounts of money and take them as a mistress.

Im still reading my book about Wallis Simpson and she was definetly one of those women, it fascinates me how someone who was never described as beautiful could get a king to abdicate.

Or are you one of these women?

Maybe she was just a lovely woman and they just clicked...and he wanted to be with her even if she wasn't beautiful.

I don't really know any although i do sometimes see people and think what does so and so see in them but each to their own i guess.

Maybe i didnt put it right, what i ment was what attracts men to women they havent gotten to know. Noone described wallis simpson as being attractive and i was just curious to know how some women seem to have a "hold" over men

Have you noticed that the showiest male ducks have the dowdiest brown ducky partners?

The ones I don't understand are the ones with ugly personalities that men risk everything for.

Could not agree with you more.

Also, "beauty" is such an individual thing. What I consider beautiful is not the run of the mill beauty, ie the cast on Chelsea or Essex would not do anything for me....

There are 1 or 2 girls I've known in the past who I wouldn't say were physically attractive (horrible comment, I know, just bear with me) but they also had HORRIBLE personalities.

Two-faced, slept with their "best friend"'s boyfriends, used their own boyfriends for material gain and they could start an arguement in a phone box with no money...

Yet guys were falling over for them (and not just for a quick shag thinking they were "easy", ACTUALLY professing their love). x

This thread reminded me of an old newspaper cartoon published just after Prince Harry made the faux pas with the Nazi fancy dress outfit.

It depicted Prince Charles and Camilla arm in arm with Charles pointing to the swastika on Harry's arm.

Charles is saying to Harry 'what are you doing with THAT on you arm ?'

Prince Harry replies 'I was gonna ask you exactly the same thing'
