Just listening to the radio and animal rights groups are now trying to stop the police using dogs as they say the dog never signed up to do the job!

How the fuck can a dog sign up for the police force? ... I think I need to go back to bed! 🤦‍♂️

The breeds they use need stimulating and are very intelligent so the job most likely satisfies their needs. They are also very well looked after which is more than can be said for a lot of dogs in domestic homes.

The only thing I don't agree with is putting them in violent environments like riots etc.. that kind of thing can be damaging and scary for them. They can serve yes but as long as they are protected along the way.

Maybe they could just do admin, taking statements etc or a desk Sargent doing the booking in on a Saturday night.

I felt really sorry for the horses that attended the recent riots.

How do animal rights activists feel about support dogs for vision and hearing impaired people?

Dogs are very handy when we need them and seem to have a great life ... I have family member that is a police dog handler and the dog is loved/has a whale of a time pretty much .

They are gonna lose it when they find out there is a whole group of working dogs who enjoy it.

Jesus, police dogs are among some of the best dogs ever. In terms of care and enrichment

I think dressing dogs in daft outfits and carrying them round in handbags is worse.

They don't consent to be pets or property either. Should we just let packs of dogs roam the streets?

The genie is out of the bottle now isn't it. We domesticated animals thousands of years ago we can't just stop.

We have a cat who owns us if it's any help. We can't get him to voluntarily do anything.

that's why I love cats. We used to have a big old boy who treated the street as his own. pulled in to our drive after work one day to see him blithely staring at me out of our neighbours bedroom window . When I went to apologise she said it was no problem, he frequently slept on her bed at night too. 🤷‍♀️

I beleive our hens have figured their animals rights out as they haven't laid me as many eggs this week so they might be going on admin duties in the freezer for the foreseable

They look keen enough happy in the job even, GSDs love biting bad people.

They are the jack russell of the larger dog category.

"I think dressing dogs in daft outfits and carrying them round in handbags is worse. "

This is far worse, along with all those poor dogs cooped up in homes that don’t get walked or exercised enough leaving them over stimulated and end up with various behavioural issues

We have a rescue spaniel who was meant to be too energetic but because he’s at work with me and stimulated all day he’s content and far from nutty now.

What about them dogs that snort heroin at the airport, they must be fucked by the end of their shift.

Do they have to sniff methadone when they retire?

Would this, by any chance, originate in one post on Twitter and isn't at all supported by the wider animal welfare community?

It was actually a 30 minute phone in slot on BBC Radio 2, so hardly bullshit news.
