I just heard that his last broadcasts will be at the end of the month. He's one of the few broadcasters I've enjoyed listening to. I remember laying on the beach when I should have been in lectures 😳 listening to him in 1975.

The end of an era

Brighton - even Hove!

He’ll be on the whiskey before you know it.

"He’ll be on the whiskey before you know it."

This is what I thought the thread mead about initially!

During the 70’s he was one of the best DJ on radio, playing music that wasn’t in the charts, introduced me to some great bands.

Not sure how old he is, but a well deserved retirement (presumably) awaits. He will be missed though

Finedon ,

Remember Johnny from his Radio Caroline days circa 1960s and have been a fan of his ever since,

Sounds of the 70s on Radio 2 on Sunday afternoons is Johnny at his best, I will miss him.

He lived a few houses away from my sister in a Somerset village for a number of years.

That only leaves Tony Blacburn as the last remaining Pirate Radio D.J.

Wish I could go back to the swinging 60s.

He's got a lung condition that's making broadcasting difficult. I hope he has a long retirement too.

I was never a big fan on Tony Blackburn but he's good at his job
