I am working my way through the DCI Ryan books by LJ Ross.

I wasn’t that keen on the first, but I’ve got into it since and I keep thinking I’ll take a break and read something else, then there’s a cliffhanger at the end of each one so I think I’ll just read one more…

I saw The Winter King dramatised on TV at the beginning of the year and was telling a very lovely (Fab) friend about it. He enthused about the books and turned up one day with the whole trilogy as a gift for me. I'm glad he did! 😃

Had I read the books first, I wouldn't have watched the TV series. I learnt my lesson about dramatisations after watching Misery - which was one of my favourite books as a teenager - and the first Harry Potter film. Hated both of those as neither matched my interpretation of the books.

But having enjoyed The Winter King dramatisation, it brought me to three books and an author that I wouldn't normally have chosen to read. That said, I can see how, having read the book first, you wouldn't have enjoyed the dramatisation so much.

A brilliant series of book around Roy Grace, a copper in Brighton. Each book has fairly recently been made into a TV series starring John Simms as "Grace". The programme doesnt do the books justice but still worth a watch.
