Macmillan Good Night In 26th April

saw this on the TV the other day and thought it might be a good idea for a forum chat room invasion? (other non forum users are of course invited)

The idea is that you have a night in but donate the amount you woul normaly spend on a night out.

as we are all so spread out around the UK i figured a chat room party wuld be best. i can set up a just iving page for people wo want to donate.

If you live close enough to others then you could meet up and join us on chat together etc

what do we all think?

Yep, think it's a fab idea ... am already holding one for some of my girlie friends ... all straight I hasten to add ... but figured it's a worthy enough cause to forego a night of lust and passion !!!!

This country is way too charity happy. I wouldn't mind but most the money lines the directors pockets...

That's not exactly true. Charities have costs they have to pay. Where they have staff those people are paid. Not all charities are well run but most are not badly run. The big ones, like McMillan, do raise millions and have many staff and projects. Most charities in this country operate with 1 or no paid staff and have turnovers well under £50k a year.

Then I guess you didn't watch the documentary on tv about exposing charities for how they distribute the money donated...

If you don't want to support the event that's fine but please leave this thread for people who do. There has already been a thread about charities going too far where these comments would be better suited.
