Self critical

Can you be self critical of yourself.

Look at your actions and the reactions they can create.

Easier to blame everyone else than look at yourself

Or

Are you the one to say “yes I own that, I need to make the changes”

Or

Do you always accept the blame, do the apologising even if it’s not your fault just because it’s easier for you

I own my words and actions. Despite my occasionally acerbic humour on here I’m actually very conscious of how I might make others feel, probably at my own detriment sometimes.

I actually hold back most of the time

I like to think that if I’ve been a plonker at some point about something that I am able to sit back, take time to calm down and reflect on my actions and take steps to work on that. I’ll hold my hands up to that.

If I think I was in the wrong about something then I’ll apologise. However, if I believe I wasn’t in the wrong then I’m pretty stubborn at sticking to my guns.

I'd say I can be reflective

But I steer away from being too self critical and instead choose to be quite forgiving

I tend to own things but can easily do the other things as well.

I grew up with parents who did #1, so by default I always did #3. I've mostly trained myself out of that now and try to do #2. It doesn't always work

I'm a terrible people pleaser & I always think it's me that's in the wrong, I'll apologize for apologizing, I'll say thank you to someone saying thank you 🙈

It's important to realize your mistakes and be honest about them, take responsibility - I probably take that a little too far though.

My default setting is 3, but I work hard on being 2.

Very similar, Im also a people pleaser and do my best to avoid any conflict. I apologise constantly for everything, but am trying to be more aware of when im doing this and to stop x

All over

It depends on the scenario of course but mostly 2 and occasionally 3, to diffuse a situation and possibly revisit in a tactful manner if important to do so. Nothing worse than people who never apologise and mean it if they are in the wrong. None of us are infallible. I will always apologise if on reflection I realise I am.

Sure, it’s essential.

In fact Practice the window in the mirror, when things are going good, look out the window praise your team and those around you for the results, when things are bad, look in the mirror at yourself.

Some people do the complete opposite course

But not impossible. We've got this

Personally I am done with apologising or compromising myself for others.

I am not, nor would I ever want to be, popular. More like an unusual spirit that sits at the back of the alcohol cabinet.

I have spent a long time seeing me as the issue. Now I know it is the situations that I have allowed myself to be put in, whether that’s work or people or social

I will happily live in a cottage by the sea with my dogs than go back to how I was

We do...the conversations in my head when I'm giving myself this pep talk 🤪

I believe in owning it all and making changes to make things right. I hate people that refuse to accept they have done wrong and push blame x

I think I have all three in me depending on the circumstances and my mood at the time.
