Nice and clean is kind of a bare minimum expectation. It'd feel like asking someone of they can be bothered to do the bare minimum. Which does feel a little rude.

I do expect people to be nice and clean. If they're not then it simply doesn't progress beyond a hello. I don't think I'd ask in advance. If they haven't the frame of mind to consider that by themselves then we're not compatible 💜

This.

The bare minimum is that someone arrives freshly showered and clean. If they’re coming straight from work then they can shower in the hotel.

Sadly, those with poor personal hygiene are often blissfully unaware of it, so asking is probably not helpful anyway.

Nice to see a lady admit that you block for petty reasons. Most ladies actually do the same but justfy it as some massive reason. One wrong word is easy to write/say as there are more wrong words than correct ones. All I'm saying is, for petty reasons, you might be screening out more good ones than you ladies think. If you are bathing in gold, one coin makes no difference, right.

No, I always make a point of mentioning it before a meet. I have very delicate senses, if someone's not clean I would be too grossed out and sick from the smell to have sex anyway. If they take offence to it then that's not someone I would want to do anything with anyway.

As prey said, being clean is the absolute base line minimum.

It's the bare minimum to expect but I don't think it's rude to ask, and I wouldn't take any offence.

I had a meet with someone who may have washed that morning, but certainly hadn't before the meet that afternoon and they'd been working outside in the sun... I asked them to giving it a quick freshen up and although it still went ahead, a cloud had been cast

I wouldn’t be offended and I don’t expect anyone in this forum would be either, because we’re (almost) all decent people with high(ish) standards. But I imagine the reaction could be different from some of the pond life floating around this site.

I think it’s a shame you have to ask any human if they’ve washed before having relations, but maybe some context would soften the question ie “Last week I met someone who was lovely in our messages but unclean when we met. What’s your approach to meet hygiene?”

You need to be clear of what you're asking.

I knew a man in the real world who said he gives blood so doesn't need to get STI checked as they test the blood he's donated.

Another said he goes by the results of the women he's had sex with. If they are negative then so is he.

The problem I have with my STI results is I gave my real name and the link shows it to whoever I share it with, so they have to believe me when I say they were all negative, if I don't want them knowing my name yet.

I wouldn't even ask tbh , l'd say it straight out if the lady in chatting didn't mention it , hygiene is just something that's important to both , if one party isn't cutting the mustard in that depth , not for you after all who wants to have sex with someone that doesn't care about their hygiene , if people don't care about their hygiene well off they go & have Sex.

Wherever I lay my hat

"Would you be offended op if a man asked you if you were nice and clean?

I would. I'd be thinking "do I actually look like a skanky old soap dodger?" (understand I'm leaving myself open to replies of "yes you do" )

You’re not *that* skanky dear."

Tbh I get more offended at the term "dear"

Is it awful of me to ask if a man is nice and clean , would you men be offended I asked and block me x 🫣🫣"

Wouldn't offend me but I guess it may offend some .

I'd be asking for specifics, of when they'd showered. Nice and clean is a bit too subjective. A dirty finger probably will answer that he is, if he has had more than 2 showers in his whole life and once washed his hands after the loo.

Honestly if a woman asked me that I’d assume she’s had some really bad experiences , made some awful choices and I’d avoid her.

There’s some things you don’t need to ask, you use your eyes , ears and judgement

Hi O.P.

It is not offensive.

1. Those that take it as such are hypervigilant types who automatically look for insult in every comment throughout all days. Their ego's are fragile and damaged and they have to go to such lengths to make you feel as if you have asked an offensive question.

2. For me .... it would depend on how you asked. How you worded it. If it sounded accusatory or disgusted or high fallutin' and snotty nosed.. but it would be the attitude i'd reject not the question.

3. I'm with YOU don't take anything as a given. Why waste your time meeting a stinker.

If being recently washed in every crevice is a must for you then do what you did and ASK .... or just state that you clean all yours , and you had to decline a person once because he was not washed. Or ask him his take on hygeine....

Stick to your guns....

I wouldn't be offended I'd be concerned about what would make you think I wasn't "nice and clean"

We expect people to be clean. Now you have me worried 😂😂

my grandmother always would use carbolic soap. It used to go in my eyes and all. I didn’t cry when she died.

Disowned that back in the late 60's. A beautifully creamy soap with a heavy perfume....... took the bloody skin off your face.

Yes, I recall now. It was a huge block of soap. She would rub it directly on my face.

If someone was to turn up all stinky, you should tell em to eff off. Seriously, there is no excuse, I doubt even a brass would entertain em.
