Does the word sorry actually mean anything?

I mean yes it is said but do you ever say it without meaning it or hear people say it to you and think “just have the guts to stand by what you said don’t say sorry on my account

I'm one of those weirdos who will apologise for existing, e.g. "excuse me. Sorry. Do you mind moving aside. Sorry. Thanks." Or something like that. I hate myself doing it.

So yeah, that's a thing.

Sorry is fine as someone really means it. 9ften people don't. I am happy to say sorry when in the wrong for sure

It means something if the person can acknowledge what they are apologising for. If they can't give the context, they aren't apologising they are saying it to shut you up.

The behaviour also needs to change after the apology. If they continue doing the same, the sorry means nothing.
