In my opinion Brian Cox in Manhunter. Very little screen time but powerful impact without the hamminess of Hopkins.

Im going out on a limb and suggesting Gaspard Ulliel, french actor that depicted a young hannibal lecter in the film "hannibal rising".

(He died in a skiing accident a few years ago.)

I wasn't expecting much from the prequel, showing how the character became a psychopath due to his childhood, but I found it pretty watchable.

Mainly because of his performance.
