Natwests carbon footprint tracker.

Did you know that apparently a london based natwest bank have launched a carbon footprint tracker to supposedly tackle the "climate crisis".

What the tracker does is that it issues alerts that warns the customers that their food purchases are causing "climate change", not just that, users are also receiving messages when they are caught buying traditionally farmed produce.

That is another reason of why one shouldnt use these kinds of apps, but cash instead, cash is the king as the saying goes, apparently it isnt just the bank app, but it seems that tesco is doing something similar with their club card.

What do you think of these kinds of apps that thinks they know better than we do and how they interfere and monitoring purchases, is it something we should be worried about and how controlled everything could be in the future too?

There's been apps on that subject pre convid to use on carbon foot print. Slowly dripping in control so sheep won't notice. Told its for thier benefit and safety. With these clowns in government its all gonna come in.just to add credit score apps, if you don't withdraw cash it keeps your score bumped up. All sneeky.

It will be the next generation that force the cashless thing through

I've tried educating the kids but they just don't get it as paying for stuff on their phones when they are out with their mates is way cooler than handing over or carrying round a paper note...

They have had it rammed down their throats by the banks and on TV/films and the media to purchase things this way now, so everything is tracked.

And no I am not a crazy flat earther or anything like that it's just the way the world is moving.

It's hard to even spend any large amounts of cash in the EU already and the UK isn't far behind.

There is ways to do stuff more 'anonymously' with crypto still but that's it's own minefield and volatile to say the least.

I think it’s a great idea , probably just a couple hundred years ahead of its time.

Most people don’t give a fuck about the planet and what they are doing and leaving for future generations. Changing that is a far bigger challenge than solving the problems themselves.

I very rarely use cash, not because it’s ‘cool’ but because it’s safer and more efficient and cuts down on organised crime.

I recently took cash from UK to UAE via Istanbul and Riyadh, just because the Fx fees by my bank it would have cost me over £1000 . While just below the limit for paperwork It was still flagged by scanners and queried in each country which is a good thing.

It’s keeping you informed so you can opt to make different choices. You don’t have to make those choices. You’re still free to do what the fuck you want.

Can’t you just ignore them and crack on with what you want? Are you penalised for said alerts?

However I spend my money is no fuckers business and I will continue to spend it how and where I wish 🤦🏽

Things/people can only take control of what you do if you give them control of what you do 🤷🏽‍♂️

I've not seen this with either my club card or Nat West app.

Even if i did, would it make any difference to me, no.

I buy the food I enjoy cooking and eating. I spend my hard earned money where i enjoy spending it and where it has to be spent, ie bills. The companies whos bills I have to pay, their carbon footprint is much much bigger than mine

lol the reason people pay by card isn’t because it’s ‘cool’ it’s because it’s way simpler and more convenient. I couldn’t care less who sees what I’m buying, as long as it’s not being controlled. No one gives a toss what tins of beans I’m buying in Tesco and for the few things that need cash it’s a massive pain in the arse.

How many times have you been short changed? And how many times have you dropped a tenner by mistake? I’ve never lost a penny on my card.

I don’t get what all the fuss is about, the only people who really care about cash are the people who don’t want to pay tax, which is fair enough really

You’ll end up with a carbon usage and when you go over you’ll be fined or penalised in some way. These are the first steps, same as getting rid of cash they will be able to control your spending and your movements.
