Spell check on Fabswingers?

There are times I find myself struggling to understand what some profiles and posts are saying. Am I alone?

The wording is very often inappropriate, misspelt and disjointed. If you are trying to convey information or an opinion then why not check it before posting? WRITING IN CAPITALS DOES NOT HELP!

Should we ask Fab to install a universal spell and grammar checker on here?

I'm on W8 and it comes with an inline spellchecker/auto correct tool for when typing in online forms (of which this input screen forms part of). Great little tool but it doesn't catch every little typo.

All decent browsers come with inbuilt spell checker anyway!

Most people who write like you have suggested either use a phone and type in "txt spk", or they are just lazy by choice and wouldn't bother using a spell checker.

Realistically it would help more if people learnt to paragraph when they typed a post as even without spelling errors and grammar mistakes, it does make it hard work to read and I must admit I pass those posts by

Just install and use Google Chrome.

It spell checks as you type away in the little box.

Yes to a spell checker, however that would not help with grammar as people could still for eg put:

I think your beautiful instead of I think you're/you are beautiful.

Oh thats me to. I also type how I read it in my head. The worse thing is I write legal binding letters for work.. I use big words in the letters...

I proof read everything I write in whatever context, as very easily could then be taken the wrong way or out of the context is was intended

One of the good things of this site is that's its full of individuals, look different, talk different, each their own personalies, id prefer to let each have the own free choice to spell, message and contact how they want, if it annoys people that much then state 'i will not reply to bad grammer, txt speak' each to there own on all aspects of this site

I use Chrome and get the wriggly red underline, but being an American company, the bloody thing corrects my correctly spelt [which has been underlined ] English word and gives me the American poorly spelt [again] alternative

As a trained proofreader and have run my own business doing just that, spell checker units aren't as good as they should be.

Invariably, they are usually all American made and therefore, biased towards a USA version of English. Plus, they can tend to be at least 12-18 months behind the times, as the English language is always changing.

No I don't think a spell checker should be installed or correction of grammar. You can glean a lot of information from the way a person writes. If it all became standard then it would make the sifting out process more difficult.

If a guy messaged typing 'yer got massive tits luv' and the grammar check changed this to 'your breasts are bountiful madam' then I could be fooled into thinking this guy would appeal to me and I wouldnt be impressed if a guy turned up speaking in that crude way.

I've always managed to understand most posts and messages even if they were littered with spelling and grammatical errors

Bridgwater - Somerset

Some profiles are just too much like hard work, all about communication.

My spell checker did not like the word 'spunking' and suggested spanking and spurning. Not good.
