"I am a bit shibari police on this as people use shibari as being interchangeable with rope bondage. It's like saying I want to learn football. If you want a good holistic book in bondage and D/S and don't mind a long read, Mistress Couple's "Ultimate Guide to Bondage" would be worth a look. If self suspension is your thing Shay Toxiano's "Tying & Flying" If you want videos the makers of rope deGiotta, and also Twisted Monk used to separately have videos on Vimeo and YouTube as is Rory's Brainworks, Watts the Safe Word . Also recommended on Youtube is ChristianRed's Bondage Tuition. There is also The Duchy. Crash Restraint has a good syllabus but a number of the links are dead. I recommend The Rope Podcast. In addition to the previous post: Esinem has online tutorials. as has Anatomie has videos, as has bondage tuition on YouTube.Ebi Mcknotty rope 365 is worth looking up. I use two paid online resources Shibari Study (about £200pa but id only rope) and Kink Acadamy (about £150 but covers the whole range of BDSM and kink). "Miumi-U Teaches Japanese Shibari" is a recommended book. Other books are "Shibari" by Phillippe Boxis which is in French and English. As is the Shibaku books 1 and 2 by Peter Wettstein, the third is not translated into English. "Osez le Bondage is a pocket book by Axterdam with French and English Editions. For German speakers Matthias Grimm has his Japanese Bondage. There are Douglas Kent's books, but because they are out of print they are becoming stupidly expensive, and they are old school. "Bondage' David La Greca It has a good philosophical side If philosophy is your thing "Discovering Kinbaku' Zetsu Nawa is worth a look as is "Pdychology of BDSM & Rope Bondage" by Sin. If history is your thing the podcast and associated material of the Kinbakunomicon by Faviola is excellent. As is the "The Beauty of Kinbaku" by Master K. I use different knots for my single columns. I seriously hated tying knots as a scout I could not do a reef knot to save my life as a kid,but I love shibari because its not about knots. There are skills such as body movement,rope handling,understanding tension which are more important than knots. But in Western bondage knots are everything. | |||

It didn't seem too difficult, just more a case of practising to get the sequence correct | |||
