Charlie Brown had a pencil pal. I had one in the USA for a few years. She was quite astonishingly republican and right wing and amusingly clueless for someone with a college degree. Not MIT, mind, Slaghorn, Alabama or someplace.

Perhaps you could use AI text to speech, so you can still write but they'll get voicemails. And then reverse it, as you need a penpal, get their voice messages converted to text.

Or just look for an interested penpal.
