So you’ve agreed to meet someone for a social

They turn up and you think “what are you wearing”

They could be dressed way older than their age

Way younger than their age

Made no effort in your eyes

Over dressed

Under dressed

Fancy dress

Anything else

What would you do?

Do you judge people on the way they dress, would it be a deal breaker?

For those with partners do you buy clothes for them but really it’s what you want to see them in?

I don’t overthink it. I just get lord alli to pay for a personal shopper and choose everything for me

We all make judgements which determine how we feel about people. It's human nature. Although, I had the realisation that I once bleached my hair for a man who would turn up in holy boxers and made no effort. So sometimes, we don't always stick to our preferences!

We all make judgement based on the appearance of a person how else would physical attraction come, that also applies to clothes and overall appearance.

But.... What could be seen as no effort to one person could be an effort to another.

As long as someone is comfortable, confident and clean I really don't care. I dress the way I dress. I don't mind of the person I meet is wearing a suit with a £200 shirt or some primark jogging clothes.

I don't care if people think we look mismatched in public, it's none of their business. And it's not like they're fully dressed for the main event anyway 💜

I've turned up in a dress, and I've also worn t-shirt and leggings to one. If they don't like it, they can leave.

As long as a guy didn't turn up in a bright orange suit I wouldn't be fussed what he wore.

Clean, smelling good and presentable is what matters to me.

If they turn up in stained or torn clothes I’d be a bit miffed. Although there is a caveat for that, if it’s a quick social after work and they do a physical job of course there are allowances.

I have had a social with someone in fancy dress 🤣 - it was at a convention so expected.

I’ve had socials with people turning up in everything from shorts and a tshirt to a full suit. As long as they’re comfortable to be themselves that’s what really matters.

I too have had spur of the moment socials in everything from jeans and a blouse to a full summer dress and sandals. It’s a social and if it’s that important then I expect we wouldn’t be compatible

I think it’s all down to the person and the situation as a trades man I have had a

Social on a lunch break with a lady just a walk in a park and a chat but I warned her I was dressed for work steel toe capped boots cargo trousers with cement dust over them and a top less than clean due to the work I was doing and a high vis vest she understood and turned up in baggy jeans and a hoody but it was a lovely social. I’ve also dressed real smart and and put loads of effort in and gone for a nice meal or been in causal jeans and a T-shirt and met for a drink in a pub or a costa. As long as your comfortable and the other person knows what to expect if you are sat in work cloths I think it doesn’t matter
