There’s nothing to do in Gatwick.

Jump on the train into London.

I think the Gatwick express goes into Victoria. From there the west end is your oyster, soho, south bank. Enjoy.

It goes to London and Brighton. If you’re on a day trip I’d say Brighton

You can get to London Bridge or Victoria from Gatwick. Depends what things you like to do. London Bridge has a Borough Market, near the Shard, can do the walk around the Thames, Tate Modern, etc.

Victoria is close to Buckingham Palace, walkable to trafalgar sq, Covent Garden etc.

Cheers

Will look later but if any other tips feel free to say.

Is it just a bus to get you out of the airport or is there a train.

Not doing taxis

Definitely don’t do taxis. Trains go to both Victoria and London Bridge. Think they both take about 30 mins

My pro tip: use your phone and say something like ‘section 9 secure, subject on the move. Marigold is go repeat go’ then walk purposefully to the exit. People will think you’re a GOD.

Brighton - even Hove!

Go north to London or south to Brighton. Don’t stay in Gatwick.

I think that’s what I would do I did this trip very recently when I had a visitor to the uk - borough market, meal /cocktails up the shard, a few bars around Waterloo station, south bank Tower Bridge them into the brick Lane vintage area shopping & spitalfields and a few more bars in the city - it’s plenty for one day

Gatwick train station is accessible from Gatwick Airport, by way of escalators and feet ()

As others have said, the train will take you directly to either London Victoria, or London Bridge. Depends what you'd like to see/do. From Victoria, you're closer to Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park; London Bridge is closer to the river and you can wander along and see the bridges, Tower of London, Houses of Parliament... have a look online and see where you want to go, and then figure it out from there. Use the underground to get about, or buses. You can pay with your debit card, tap in, and tap out, to pay. You'll be charged one amount for the whole day, as long as you use the same card.

Enjoy yourself!

If you decide to do the river/borough market area, You can get the Uber boat too. Also use Bolt for cheap taxi & pack much more in , Walking around for a whole day can be exhausting

Intriguing that although Brighton is mentioned, nobody recommended heading south from Gatwick rather than into London.

Given the choice, I’d head to Brighton, same half an hour on the train and easily a days worth of entertainment.

Forget London, head to Brighton

Darkest South East Surrey

With regards to the airport there is a north and south terminal with a light railway linking the two. The mainline railway station is in the south terminal. From there you can go north to London in about 30 mins or south to Brighton in about 30 mins.

Horsham

Gatwick is half an hour by train from London Victoria, also about 45 mins to Brighton.

There is plenty to see in both places, it depends what you are interested in.

Tilgate is hard to get to by train though. But can be fun walking through the woods 😇

Brighton is the gay capital of the UK.

London is the crime capital of the UK.

Choose your fate. Get stabbed. Or get bummed.

I mean, Gatwick is in Crawley but unless you like coffee shops, charity shops there isn't much there. Tilgate park is nice but if you have the time, I'd definitely jump on a train to Brighton x

Gatwick airport is just by Reigate which is in Surrey a fair old way from the city of London although only about 40 minutes on the train from Gatwick.
