A little story for you

Harrogate

Someone had run over a cat at the top of the road, a cat which I assumed was owned by my neighbour behind.

So I took the cat in a box, kept it in my garage for the night as I found the animal at 2200 at night. This morning went knocking on their door. Not their cat. Not anyone's cat who lives local.

So I ended up for most the morning having a stray cat, that no one knew who owned it!

So much for being nice and trying to do a kind thing!

Thankfully a local vets took the cat, which is probably where I should have taken it in the first place.

Does it really pay to be kind?

It does as it may may be chipped, and you will have given a family closure.

It was dead when I found it, and it was late so I thought, this isn’t the sort of thing you go knocking doors for. So it stayed in an Amazon box in my garage overnight and most the day as I tried to track down the owner before conceding to the vets.

There is a cats lost and found website you can post pics on and probably you also have a neighbourhood group.

The cat had been around for a few months, near half a year. Just showed up one day. We all assumed it was the same neighbours…

I took it to the vets, they’ll know if it’s chipped etc.

It sounds like a need to get emergency medical care, as internal injuries could prove fatal or more debilitating. If you'd be happy to get run over and put into a box, without anyone monitoring you for hours, I'd be very surprised. Minutes matter, following injuries.

It's always right to care for people and animals. Organisations like RSPCA etc can give expert support.

Erm… the cat was dead when I got to it. Like, dead.
