Exactly this. The more time you spend here, the more tedious it feels. In moderation I find it works well. I may go months without any interesting prospects on here but then one will pop up out of nowhere and make the whole thing worthwhile

Has it got tedious? For me, a little. Seeing the same person create new profiles constantly, forum posts the same and just dead end conversation.

Also, It might just be me but lately I’ve noticed a slow increase in the number of aggressively toned threads about meets. Women, couples, not being able to get meets etc.

I think if anything becomes tedious it’s time for a re evaluation of

1. Do you need it or does it take more than it adds?

2. Is it your current mind set or ongoing?

3. Can you do anything to change how you feel about i?

And I am sure there are more but for me if here or anywhere becomes tedious I will take a time out or leave altogether

I don’t blame others for my tedium and on here be that if it’s because of squabbling, or same posts, or whatever and actually look at myself first and see what I can adjust

One of the changes I have noticed over the last six months or so is the same thread getting put up again and again and again just with increasing numbers. That is literally the definition of repetitive.

They feel like the forum equivalent of a supermarket coming in and destroying the small shops on a high street. Convenient but bland and boring.

There is a huge element of it’s not in person so I can say/do what I want which exposes the nature of us, basically we are all a combination of lover/animal/hedonist/asshole in varying percentages, 99 percent of us wouldn’t have the conversation we have in here in public so it’s also the secret walled garden, it’s not fab that’s tedious, it’s us and if it’s not you it’s definitely me

I think the whole online dating/hookup/whatever thing is tedious. Especially the past 5-10 years.

It wasn't quite so bad back then, although I assume that's just because I've done it for ages and have seen just how much it has changed. The repetition of interaction and constant negative outcomes don't help either.

But overall, now I don't spend half as much time on these things as I used to. So the tedium is down to a bearable level. 😅

Can't change anything about it, but you can change yourself.

I think the art of conversing properly is getting less and less - people want instant results and you’re chosen or discarded just from a single pic.

A lot of people see this as an instant sex site now.

FAB is becoming harder to unearth that rough diamond.

For us FAB is more of a tool than anything. Mainly use it to upto date about events, what's going on and with fab freinds. I agree it gets a bit tedious but that's OK considering our main use of the site.

As to the forums I find myself dipping in and out every now and then. I go on there after a break enjoy them for a bit then bet bored and leave it for a bit. I guess there's just so much you can go over before you repeat.

I think that there are aspects that stagnate, the same people posting the same thing is boring, the need for people to be funny over honest is tedious. The threads where people just drop their opinions and don’t return or respond are a bit like shouting into the void

But why not?

The amateur photo/video contributions are solid.

Whereas the original purpose of Fab - to facilitate meetings - certainly feels stilted.

Many people use this site as if it were Tinder. A yes or a no based on a photo. Ignoring and not even politely declining thoughtful messages ...while at the same time bashing people who send curt hello messages. You really make it worth the extra time to compose proper conversation openers eh...

The arcane interface doesn't help either.

I certainly have less messages and offers than I once had. However I am also older now and maybe the newer people that have come along are looking for something that I don’t offer.

I meet people through other places now so either my reputation locally with fab is poor or I just don’t match folks requirements. Tis okay, it’s still a place to catch up with old friends and have a perve.

The forum seems somewhat less active. I think lots of activity for some is exciting or interesting.

I find things can become repetitive or even a bit superficial when it's about volume of activity. A bit like an action movie sequel. Sure I'll watch Rambo 10 but it's not leaving a lasting impact on me.

Personally I think it's been more open and inclusive to others in the last few months. More people posting that wouldn't normally and normal thread posters taking a sabbatical. Perhaps that's why there's a little rehashing going on. Noobs don't know what's been posted before.

It's always going to be the same topics anyway.

It depends on what you quantify as "tedious?"

Multiple multiple forum posts daily of the exact same subject (eg profile advice)? Sure, absolutely. Can be monotonous.

Your inbox? Are you chatting to new people or is it the same circle of people with the same old conversations?

Not finding people you'd like to meet? Yes, but now and again people leave and newcomers join in their place and it refreshes it somewhat.

a place somewhat adjacent to you…

I occasionally visit the forums now, yet I find myself inexorably counting down the days until my departure from the site.

Consequently, my engagement and interaction have considerably diminished. It has become abundantly clear through my experiences earlier this year that the site’s offerings do not resonate with my interests, lifestyle, or overall help with my own well-being; I now linger primarily to converse with a select few individuals until my time here is fully expended.

I would ‘like to’ assert that it is not the individuals per se, but; akin to any esteemed 'Abode', it is invariably about the inhabitants therein.

Sincerely, Chad Thundercock
