Finding Religion Again

Southampton (they/he/she)

In these past months I’ve felt some disconnect between me and my religion. It’s my own fault, really; life happened and I stopped reading my bible and I became too absorbed in other things in my life; stupid things I shouldn’t have bothered with.

But I saw a beautiful Cathedral yesterday and instantly I was awash with peace.

So here is my bible quote of the day:

Timothy 1:12

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day

I've never been religious or had any interest in it. But what other people do is up to them, so long as it doesn't hurt anybody.

If it helps you get out of bed in the morning and feel better about your life and the world, then fair play really.

Happy to here you feel more at peace.

Being Christian, gay and hanging out on a swinging site. That's something you'll need to come to terms with in your own time.

Although there is a huge amount of irony in a lesbian being a fan of the works of Paul

Finding Santa Again

In these past months I’ve felt some disconnect between me and last year's Christmas presents. It’s my own fault, really; my birthday happened and I stopped writing my new Christmas list and I became too obsessed in other nibbly snacks in my cupboard; perishable things I shouldn’t have swallowed.

But I saw a beautiful hamper yesterday and instantly my trousers were awash with semen.

So here is my Santa quote of the day:

Rudolph 1:12

Oh, ye better watch out: ye better not cry: ye better not pout, I'm tellin' ye why: Santa Claus doth cometh to town: He maketh a list, checketh it twice: gonna find out who's naughty and nice: Santa Claus doth cometh to town: He see-eth ye when you're sleepin': He knoweth when you're awake: He knoweth if you've been bad or good: So be good, for fucks' sake.

It's not surprising religion gets lost in the mele of life, so it's commendable that you have re connected.

It's like anything you have to reach a balance so you don't go to any extremes, being obsessed with religion can be just as destructive as losing it totally.

Remember it's a spiritual thing not a doctrine, what you feel in your soul matters.

If I listen to gospel music it lifts me when I'm down. If I hear a sermon that I relate too, it adds a logic to my life.

The Bible is an instruction manual. It works for some and not for others.

God created nature, nature gave us sex.

Sex gave us fabswingers, it all makes sense.

You're the problem, not religion.

I’d never mock someone for their spirituality but religions… 🤨

There are religions based on similar ‘desert prophet’ style worship where every single woman on this site would be punished by death for their behaviour…

Religions that would stone a woman for showing her hair in public let alone appearing unclothed in a Fab profile picture…

When I stand in a cathedral I am in awe… but of the skills and abilities of the generations of craftsman, artisans and stonemasons that built them, and how the architects managed to persuade rock to span such distances and support unimaginable weight on delicate columns…

GONE/TIMEOUT (No DMs please)

Do what you need.

Meditation on the bible is a good discipline if nothing else.

"Back to Church Sunday" is Sep 29th in a lot of CofE churches, where people are actively encouraged to return.

Whether there is a big man in the sky or not, I can't bring myself to be two faced to "repent" in public and accept communion while still being on here.

But each to their own.

Don’t be ridiculous, I’m not ‘calling out’ Raven, I’m not defending myself, I’m not mocking OP,

We are having a discussion. I am communicating a point of view…

I’m calling out ‘Religion’. Your damn right I’m mocking 2000 year old doctrines created at a time human beings thought lightning was the result of a mysterious being in the sky that was angry with them. As Raven said above, we’ve moved on a bit… but these religions are still responsible for evil cruel behaviour in our modern age.

So yes I am mocking ‘religion’… and for the fucking individual in the religious police (Mutaween) that was about to whip my 14 year old daughter for showing her wrists.. (it was hot in the shop, she had rolled up her sleeves a little, forgot as she went outside) empowered because of a stupid fucking book of made up stories and rules from two thousand years ago.

Now a days I take the Stephen fry view on God, Google it, it's worth a watch.

This forum thread has the title ‘Finding Religion’ OP went to a Cathedral and felt spiritual, quoted a biblical verse.. made a post on a sex site dedicated to non-monogamy.

We are discussing ’Religion’. I was struck by the notion that someone quoting a bible was a member of this website, someone who is actively seeking sex, out of wedlock and with other men’s wives.. sex specifically condemned by the ‘rules’ of the book he quoted from, a book from 2000 years ago that has characters in it called Peter, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John… born and working in the Middle East? A main character who in all the iconography appears as a white Caucasian man but who clearly couldn’t have been…

I am simply pointing out the dichotomy of bible quotes and Fab..

And the OP is about feeling a disconnect feom religon in the recent past, and coming back to it, through the experinece of being in a cathedral....

But yet you had to reply to Raven calling this out, and defend yourself....🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ why is that I wonder?.

Mr

Mr

Firstly I didnt say you were calling out Raven. What I said was, I'm curious as to why you felt the need to defend yourself. By stating I dont mock spirituality, but religon! After Raven made her statement.

I'd argue you do mock....with the laughing emogis you commented with on the back of someone else's comment previously. If that's not joining in mockery, I don't know what is.

I'm sorry that your daughter had to face that, and go through it. That's not right in any stretch of the imagination. Unfortunately religion and zeolites come hand in hand....

Mr

It wasn’t a laughing emoji 🤨, I’m not mocking and I’m still struggling with the notion I’m defending myself.

So I was referring to the two "🤣🤣" made on the back of someone mocking Jesus being nailed to a cross....

"I don't mock" is a clear defensive stance, on the back of a generalised statement, made by someone else.

So when ever someone responds to a statement that is calling out the collective hate, and no-one in particular it always raises my curiosity, as to why.....

And the OP is about feeling a disconnect feom religon in the recent past, and coming back to it, through the experinece of being in a cathedral....

And fair play for the op starting this thread. Despite it being a non-monogoumous sex seeking site.

Mr

That was a very funny joke, and if you have a problem with it, there’s also a very, very funny film called the Life Of Brian which you might want to watch and get in a froth about… whilst actively participating in non-monogamy.

This has been fun."

I’m not quite sure how religion sits with non monogamy, especially when I know how bad the church is in regards to LGBTQ+ folks.

I personally have a big problem with organised religion but I also know that faith and the church are two different things.

If you can reconcile your faith with ENM and sexuality, then that’s a positive thing

Religion interests me, not so much the modern ones, but all the old ones. It's surprising how so many from all over the world have very similar teachings and stories. The best quote for me is the one that Dave Allen ( late Irish comedian) used to make at the end of his shows..'may your God go with you '.

couple, us we him her.

I don't believe in the idea of religion, god , Jesus or whoever you want to follow I'm not going to knock anyone who does as long as it's not fanaticism I've no problem.

I do however believe in the notion of faith, not in the religious sense but personally I have faith in love, family, honesty and peace, some may find a faith/comfort in a certain lifestyle or creed . Or following a code that gives them comfort and guidance on how they live their lives whatever it may be, could be music, art gardening I don't mean a hobby either.

So having faith in something can help you when you are troubled.

I don't think it's right to mock someone based on their religious beliefs but I don't want to be preached at by anyone either.

Btw nothing in human history has caused more bloodshed and death than religion.

Judging should be left to us Trans when it comes to looking at what other people have decided to wear

We’ve talk on our wildcamps over the decades about this ….no one tells you how hard it is to be a Christian!

It’s phenomenal at first if you are born again or come to it as an adult, the support and adventures, new relationships etc but over time you face all kinds of tests! Although we’ all agree it is impossible to ever unbelieve!

Keep in regular contact , through small groups if not big church , reading isn’t enough

"It's not surprising religion gets lost in the mele of life, so it's commendable that you have re connected.

"

And nobody ever said being a Christian (or any person of faith) was easy, especially in the modern world.

John 16:33

I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

I don't really have a problem with religion - some of the art works and music created over the centuries on that theme are truly magnificent, and we would be poorer culturally without them. The problem I do have is when zealots believe that the wishes and needs of their chosen deity have more validity than those of real human beings.

I find Christianity completely nonsensical and I have never found any evidence for it being true. Luke

I know religion means a lot to some and not much to others.

I used to be religious but lost it. Each to their own but hate it when some tell me all my life problems would be solved if I let god back in my life.

Good luck to those who do believe

"I’m am not religious at all but I don’t get why people are mocking. If religion gives someone comfort or helps keep them on the straight and narrow how can that be a bad thing?

Could also mean death and destruction to someone else

Yes because the OP seeing a cathedral means exactly that "

note that I said someone else

Well exactly. Guess it's because people are all so friendly tolerant and open minded. They can take it up the arse from complete strangers but don't like others personal beliefs.

I have my feelings on religion having grown up around it but I would never mock someone for their beliefs.

The issue isn't worth religion itself. The core message of faiths such as Christianity and Islam is looking after the poor and treating your neighbour right. There's numerous people who have been influenced by these teachings to devote their life to good causes and there are numerous people who have overcome difficulties in their life (crime, addiction etc) thru faith.

The issue is with greedy people taking and twisting the holy books to their own interests.

I’ve just come back to this thread lol.

I don’t know why people are so surprised ? I’ve been pretty open about my religion before. I’ve posted scriptures before.

For those who say, ‘but you’re on a swingers site!’ ‘But you’re a lesbian!’

Yes, thanks for your observations. I’m still discovering myself and my religion. I only become religious a year or so ago at a very low point in my life.

For those that mock me, (looking at Santa), I hope you find peace in yourself. Mocking people ain’t gonna fill the void.

To everyone else, be good and do good to others ❤️

Side note; I think it’s silly for anyone ti think that I’m the ideal Christian because I’m not, and I’ve never proclaimed to be.

I’m a transmasc batemanmaxxed delarge lesbian for goodness sake. You really think I’m the image of Christianity?

I also have spiritual ties that I don’t forgo because of my recent discovery of religion.

It was just a nice post guys. Can y’all not have some fun?

I hope you manage to find what you're looking for OP. I'm not religious at all but can appreciate the structure it can provide in person's life if they need it and I really hope it can help you in that regard. I like to think you don't have to have to completely be all in on it, but take the parts you find relevant and helpful to assist you on your journey

Also, no one should mock others for their beliefs. It doesn't make you any bigger or more clever, it just makes you look like the intolerant hypocrites you claim religious people to be.

Yes, you’re completely right about taking parts you find relevant and helpful because that’s exactly what I do

Thank you 3
