Far be it from me...

To moan but, I recently sent a message to a lovely lady who replied. (Shocking I know!)

In her reply she told me that my message was one of the best of the 1000s she'd received.

It was late at night so, she said that as my message deserved a proper reply, she'd message me the following day.

I wasn't surprised to not get a message the next day but, I was surprised to find I had been blocked by her.

How bad is it that even the women who show an interest then block me?

Is this a sign?

MEN: have any of you had similar experiences?

WOMEN: Is this a normal thing?

I'm actually quite miffed.

Pretty standard. Not a lot you can do about it. Write it off as one of those annoying Fab things and move on.

She liked your message and thought it deserved a reply.

She didn’t like your profile for whatever reason and thought you’re not going to be compatible so she blocked you.

Simple, really.

I feel for you Op, but these things happen. People can and do change their minds and don't need to justify themselves.

This hasn't happened to me, but I have had messages in the past that were read, not responded to, yet not deleted.

Chin up. If your approach is the right one, eventually it'll pay dividends 😁

She actually said that she liked my profile as well...

I have no problem with people blocking me. And I have no problem with people not being interested in meeting me.

But, expressing an interest and then blocking? Seems odd to me.

Sending messages that get read and ignored is absolutely standard. This is the first time I've had someone respond to a message positively and then block me. That strikes me as odd

I don't expect to be able to do anything about it. As confusing as it is, she made her choice and I respect that.

After my time here, nothing strikes me as too odd!😅

She may have blocked you by accident if she had 1000’s to deal with

Welcome back btw

Maybe she knows you outside of Fab.

Maybe you’re too local.

I think it happens quite often and it’s rarely personal.

I’ve done it before. Usually when I’ve realised I’m actually not that interested. Why block? Because all too often an explanation leads to an escalation from the recipient

Them's the breaks, you pays your money and takes your chances, and this time it didn't pay off. Roll with the rejection punches innit....

Definitely doesn't know me, and I was definitely not too local. She wanted local.

I dunno. I'm just bummed out about it really.

It's such a mean way to reject someone...

tell them they tick all the boxes, tell them they deserve a "proper reply" and then block.

I mean, do what you want, I don't expect much, I don't hassle, I respect people's choices but, if you're not interested, don't tell someone you are and then block them!

Just seems a little cruel.

If it were me, I'd wait to find out if they were going to escalate before I blocked but, that's me.

People do strange things don't they. We've had where people seem so interested then totally ignore us. I guess they have their reasons and it could be one a thousand different reasons. Just have to forget and move on. I would rather people be upfront and honest though, but at the end of the day it's just a website full of strangers. Hope you're ok and it doesn't get you down.

She obviously didn't want any further conversations with you, she wasn't being nasty.

We've stopped replying as it just breaks any higher filters we may put up.
