It might be a be because its a default setting, it been left untouched by people. They probably wouldn't meet everybody in that range, but are more open about the ages they would meet.

I’ve never bothered with the age setting as I find things tend to filter themselves out, like, there’s not even any 18 year olds on here anyway (that are real anyway) and I wouldn’t meet them regardless, same with 80 year olds etc wouldn’t message me and vice versa so I don’t see the point in setting a limit "Plenty of 70-80 year olds message me despite me age range settings.
