Okay so today I was at the supermarket and whole loading shopping in the car, I saw a guy who I'm avoiding. I used to work with him years ago

Long story short he talks and talks about shite and moans oun then tried to get me to go to a monthly re-union with people I can't be arsed with at a pub.

So anyway I put on my sunglasses and s wooly hat to disguise myself took trolley back then got in the car and left.

I was told later I should have just ignored/snubbed him and not bother with a disguise

So people what would you lot do?

I’d have left the trolley for someone else to put back.

I’d have slid down his windscreen with my pants down and left one of those doggie skid marks. Should send a message.

I’d have said I’m not who you think I am, I’m you. From the future. I can’t tell you how it all went so wrong but avoid Brian from 53.

I'd have just carried on with my life.

It's not hard to not talk to someone you don't want to. Avoiding and ignoring people us easy, even if they want to strike up a conversation.

A 'disguise' sounds a tad overdramatic.

When he starts talking, just look at him with a complete look of bafflement and say, in an apologetic tone, “Sorry, do I know you?”. Then, as he brings them up, just deny you know anything about the person he claims you are, the job you did or the people you know. Works a treat and has the added benefit that he won’t talk to you in the future because he will be so embarrassed for mistaking you for you.

I'm way too old to be bullshitting my way out this situation. I'm straight to the point these days. A straight answer is my attitude now.

Noooo that's both rude and impolite

I keep interaction to the length that I want, if I'm going to engage and am explicitly clear if I'm interested in any proposal.

It keeps life so much easier. Keeping life simple is thoroughly recommended
