Was listening to the radio earlier and a listener had text in from Spain having retired out there a few years before.

Made me think if you could go anywhere where would you retire to.

For me it's Japan, nice climate, food, and culture.I could be John Blackthorne from Shogun, without the swords and death bit...so fabsters where in the world are you dreaming of?

Maybe the algarve for us though but I’m not convinced I’d want to emigrate.

I’d just like a bolthole abroad to spend a few months there a couple of times a year.

Reminds me of a colleague who mentioned similar plans for him and his wife. He only mentioned in passing but they had intended to retire to Spain and had been saving. It just sounded like chatter as, he said a lot of stuff really. It came to his birthday and he announced early retirement, they were flying out in a week or two to look at houses. He was very work-work, so it was more than a surprise to everyone. It's great the plans people have in place, as I can't say I do.

I’m not sure I’d want to fully move abroad but I would consider a winter pad. No idea where but ideally English speaking and not too far from the uk. Not too hot, not too cold. Current front runner is Tenerife but I’ve never actually been there 😆

Pity about all the European destinations mentioned above, that your plans have been made much more complicated, and often totally unfeasible, by the brexit bollocks...

We've got to be some of the stupidest people in the world to have voluntarily made it harder to go where we want to. Except of course for the millionaires/billionaires who pushed the whole thing who mostly have got dual nationalities anyway.

Sour grapes? You bet. I'm retired now and it's far harder and more costly for me to do any of the "drop of a hat" wandering around on the continent that I might have wanted to do. Thanks brexiters, for absolutely fuck all 🤬🤬

Spain is probably the most realistic goal, I’d be eligible for Spanish citizenship due to my grandmother so could get around the 90 euro day thing as soon as my kids are self sufficient and have created enough passive income probably will fuck off there if possible

Family has a house somewhere on one of the Greek islands. No sure exactly which one, as I only heard it in passing. But too hot for me, wherever it is.

I am fascinated by 2 types of places however. Both polar opposites. Either very remote wild places, like Tristan da Cunha intrigues me. Or very contemporary urban landscapes, like Berlin for example. Iceland looks interesting.
