Is there a need when someone posts something that is opposing to your point of view or experiences, albeit on or off the site, that it gets “jumped” all over and goes off in totally different tangents

Wouldn’t it be easier to just ignore, use it as a filter to block them, rather than tell them to leave or in some cases belittle their opinion, it is their opinion, maybe different to yours but surely they are still allowed it

Personally I don’t have the energy, the want or the will.

I kind of understand where you're coming from OP. I can disagree with someone's post but it doesn't mean I want them to leave the site, make passive aggressive remarks elsewhere or enjoy when vultures gleefully rip apart their posts. Nor does it mean I suddenly hate them.

I try and remember that people might be going through a hard time. Take things a bit to heart.

Sadly it's the way it'll always be. In every forum.

I like seeing different points of view, even downright disagreement. I can separate the person from the views mostly, and am open to changing my own if the argument is persuasive.

I get your point a certain level, I quite often feel like I have to preface everything I say with 'In my opinion', which is still 50/50 whether it makes any difference.

On the other hand, people moan about people going on tangents. Well that's also a consequence of different perspectives and frames of reference.

Personally 😏, and I appreciate it's a sex-site and all of that, but if all we did was stick out noses up each other's butts and jerks each other off, it'd get rather dull for me. Difference is interesting, sameness is so boring I'll often have debates with myself.

But this misses the point of this post. I have no problem with viewpoints and a good counter point but when the answer is to tell people to leave or to turn on them because they have a certain like or view is that the answer.

If we were all the same it would be a very boring world.

Maybe depends on the experience or point made.

I don’t mind if I’m expressing an opinion on something like a tv show, always gonna be someone that pops up saying ‘that’s shit.’

Different if I’m relating about something that’s happened or is my life experience.

For me and me alone that would mean that if everyone you disagreed with had to leave then the site would be massively smaller.

Surely better to have your own opinions especially if you can articulate a reason why and maybe to start a discussion where others may agree or learn something from them than to jump all over it and tell them to leave

If rules of the site are broken then the decision is made by admin and they are removed

When most of us know that thread lengths are limited, it's clear that posting that isn't much other than distraction, isn't really for the good of the forum.

It would be ideal if everyone had mature self-restraint and others ignored those who post unsettling stuff.

But that's it, they're just opinions. We don't have to agree with or act on them.

When I leave it'll be my choice or administration. Nobody else will decide for me.

For me, there’s a balance to be had. We can disagree with opinions expressed and that’s fair. But how that disagreement is expressed is important.

Saying that, there are some opinions that are pretty morally abhorrent on here and it’s no bad thing if they are robustly refuted.
