Southwick

I did a sponsored parachute jump for Mencap that raised over £700 back in 1985.

Loved every minute of it and it was humbling handing over the giant cheque.

I went with a group from the company I worked with to Thruxton. We made a whole weekend of it ....two evening drinking sessions on the Friday and Saturday nights and the jump on the Sunday.

Saturday training was not appreciated especially as we all were suffering mega hangovers and expected to do running circuits of the airfield etc.

They were probably sadistic ex-military taking it out on a group of pampered pissed up office workers.

We weren't going to let a bit of hardship get in the way of our weekend away. Lol xxx

You probably got the best training and what a great charity you raised money for.

There were eight in my group and I was last out as I was the heaviest. I can remember the whole experience like it was yesterday. The jump wasn't going to happen (already cancelled Saturday) on the Sunday due to the thermals. So I decided to eat meat pie beans and chips and then to be told that we were going to jump before sundown.

Ouch. I landed on a concrete runway due to the guy on the the ground giving me directions through a loudhailer.

Still...the champagne flowed that night.

Went through a period of doing quite a bit....

Bhf London to brighton bike ride, 5 years on the trot (12k raised in total).

Then the first ever bhf london to brighton midnight ride (4k raised) but have to say it was lethal!

But best was the gumball 3000 rally back, what a complete blast! (9k raised) for great ormond street hospital.

Anyone got some good ideas or want to arrange anything?
