So, Hollywood have finally decided to give this one the green light, what could possibly go wrong 🤷‍♂️

The Continental

Not something I’d watch, but if it brings the Goonies to a new audience, that’s no bad thing for them.

This. If you don't like it don't watch it. I don't get why people don't like sequels/remakes of old films.

If they redid it set in 80s I’d be up for it but as it gonna have some original cast it’s going to be modern current mehhh

A long time ago. Rebooting is a cheap idea.

Everything must be set in stone forever. But only at the point in time *they* like.

People were no doubt against a Top Gun sequel and that was pretty decent. I’ll wait for a trailer to see if it gets the old one-eyed Willy excited.

Most remakes are just an excuse to make money out of a classic. Can you name a good remake that was better than the original?

I don't mind a sequel but 35 years later it's kinda lost it's audience. All those like me who loved the original are now middle aged.

The younger generation have little interest in 80s teen movies from another century.

South East & Europe

It could be interesting, almost like the 2 IT films, with one set in the 80s and then the sequel set in present day with the characters grown up. Hopefully fewer killer clowns though.

I just hope Brand still wears the bandana

All movies are made to make money

Saying it is or isn't better is just my opinion, I can't speak for everyone.

I'm sure they'll get people watching it.

It's been kicked about for a while now, hopefully they will get a decent director and script written up for it

After all that, I'll definitely be watching it

It won't be as great as the original, but what can we do.

I did enjoy the sequel to coming to America, no where near as good as the original. But it was funny.

Most remakes are terrible tho, think Robocop, total recall, the A team, adventures in baby sitting, the karate kid, the last 2 Indiana Jones movies.

I guess it's difficult to recatch the zeitgeist.

Is it that difficult to come up with new scripts and ideas?

Or is the film making industry trying to get as much money 💰 💰 💰 as they can from nostalgia ridden Gen-Xers who are the ones in the best (ish) financial position?

If you watch the latest Beverly Hills Cop

Movie you have a great template for what you could do with Goonies two

So much of the humour and jokes in the first one are of there era but if you stick your tongue firmly in your cheek and write the script with nods to the original that fly over the head of those who haven’t seen it whilst providing a great Easter egg for this that have you can hit both audiences at once.

I wonder if Chunk will be in it? He apparently retired from acting as a kid and is now a Lawyer with his own firm!

The bloke who played Sloth died years back I was sad to read.
