Double standards

Radio1 has decided it will not play "ding dong the witch is dead" when it makes top 5 in the charts tomorrow.

Yet it's entirely happy to play all the other monkey wank that's in the charts.

I was offended when those grinning geordie fuck nuts made number 1 the other week. They were more than happy to play that shit, I was psychologically scarred.

Twats. There's no point to this post, but at least it's not snog/shag/avoid.

I'm far too old and weird to listen to Radio 1. I'll stick to 6 Music. I bet they'll play it.

speaking of double standards.....Just watched Return Of The Jedi. Disgusted by the distasteful scenes at the end where everyone is celebrating the death of Emperor Palpatine. He may have been divisive, but he was strong and he made decisions and stuck to them, and I think he should get a bit of respect. He was, after all, a little old man who died, when you remove any other context whatsoever

Who in their right mind listens to radio1 anyway. It's total bilge all day long. Crap music, banal chatter from moronic dj's.

I avoid all radio, stick to the iPod.

Fact is it in charts whether you like it or not so it should be played pure and simple. There is always a volume button turn the bloody thing down.

For years tories have drip fed us thae bbc is all for the left. This action blows that accusation out of the water so much for democracy.

He created much needed manufacturing jobs in the evil tools of oppression sector. How many people were hard at work on the death star when the bloody lefties came and blew it out of the cosmos? And he certainly took no shit from unions. If he was most displeased with their lack of progress then it was Vader's force grip for the lot of them. His only weakness was his faith in the dark side.

If that were true and it charted on the basis of public opinion it would be played.

Soon it'll be over, and she'll be quickly forgotten, much like she had been up until a few days ago.

I did not agree with Mrs Thatchers politics, but she was a strong woman who knew what she wanted and knew how to do it, be it right or wrongly for the country. She is a mother, a grandmother and that we should not forget. I think it is a shame that a huge security operation is being brought in for her funeral. She may have ripped the country to shreds in her time in office as Prime Minister but like you and I when our time is done, she deserves to go in peace and with dignity.

I don't believe the OP was commenting on the death/funeral of Mrs T. They were commenting on the fact that Radio 1 is not playing the Ding Dong song. Not necessary to comment on the OPs sexuality in response.

All i will say is everyone is human, everyone makes mistakes and you can never please everyone with the decisions and changes you try and make

I believe its wrong to slate the dead no matter who they are or what they have/n't done in their lives

Being the bigger person costs nothing!

A life lost is nothing to be pleased or joyful about in any circumstance - families are heartbroken and mourning, they don't need people slagging off their loved ones

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

My problem with the Ding Dong ping pong debate is threefold:

1. This is peaceful protest and it allows some people to register their feelings in a fairly benign way

2. R1 and the charts is not really a political part of the BBC and the compromise ensures that everyone is left angry and smacks of political censorship

3. It's a song from a 1939 film sung by Munchkins and now if one tries to sing it you are accused of being insensitive and disrespectful.

Nothing material has changed since last Friday except an old woman has died and her family are mourning their loss.

Ditto. I feel nothing for the song as part of the film, I'm not too pleased about the use it is being put to now, but I'm mightily fucked off about the BBC and government attempting to ban it.

And there is nothing more ironic, than referring to your countrymen as 'nobs' before demanding respect.

Nobody is banning it, lets not go overboard, wont be played today but after Wed it can be played to every ones hearts content, you can all buy it and listen to it all day and all night to your hearts content and all radio stations can play it but honestly, will anyone buy it or play it after wed, probably not I think as hopefully the wish to dance on an old womans grave with have passed by then.
